Looking for a multi-country trip? Whether you’re keen on a European vacation or a Southeast Asian adventure, or even a continent-crossing epic, we have the cross country travel itineraries for you.

Most people tend to stick to one country at a time, but crossing borders and visiting several countries in one vacation can offer fascinating insights into the similarities and differences of neighbouring cultures. It also feels particularly worthwhile if you’re covering half the globe on your flight – you’ve come all this way, you might as well see as much as you can, right? The biggest stumbling block is obvious – it can be a logistical nightmare. That’s where Culture Trip steps in with our carefully curated collection of small-group trips. We do all the planning, our Local Insiders lead the way, all you have to do is choose one of these trips and experience the joys of multi-country travel.

Berlin to Budapest: The Best of Central Europe by Train

Did somebody say five countries in just 10 days? It could only be Europe, with its excellent train links and endless supply of culturally and historically rich cities. This multi-country European train tour is the ultimate Euro adventure, stopping off at five of our favourite capital cities. We’ll start in Germany with a guided tour of Berlin, perhaps the city that’s seen more history than any on this continent. Then it’s across into Czechia on an extremely scenic train journey all the way to Prague. The medieval majesty of this fairytale town couldn’t hide itself if it tried, and neither can the city’s world class beer culture, both of which you’ll get to explore. Then it’s onto sophisticated Vienna, for schnitzel, sachertorte and a hint of classical music in the Austrian capital. Country number four is Slovakia, and it’s underrated capital Bratislava, home to one of the prettiest old towns in Europe. Our final destination? Hungarian capital Budapest, where we’ll soak in thermal baths and chat the night away in the city’s trendy ruin bars. 10 days. Five countries. Job done. The ultimate multi-country European vacation.

Incredible Thailand and Laos by Train

This two-week cross country itinerary is a Rail Trip of epic proportions. Again we’ll start in Bangkok, heading south to explore the ancient ruins of Sukhothai and the street food delights of Chiang Mai. We’ll round off our time in Thailand with a traditional cooking class, a visit to an ethical elephant sanctuary and a night spent glamping in the jungle. The next day we’ll swap trains for a cruise boat, and tracks for the Mekong River, as we discover rural Laos’ whiskey-making villagers and otherworldly cave systems. We’ll trek to the truly spectacular Kuang Si Falls – reason alone to visit this beautiful country – before taking a high-speed train to the city of Vang Vieng. After exploring the Nam Song River by kayak, it’s time to cross back into Thailand, where we’ll hop on an overnight sleeper train back to Bangkok.
