Travel bloggers are always tapped into the latest trends when it comes to travel, but what country is at the top of every influencer’s bucket list? HolidayGems.co.uk surveyed 33 travel bloggers to find out. The votes are in and about 20 percent of bloggers answered that Japan is the number one country they are eager to visit. India came in at a close second with 12 percent.

It seems that Japan’s cultural diversity and enviable cuisine is what has catapulted the nation to the top of people’s travel lists, particularly travel influencers.

Suzanne from The Travel Bunny told Marie Claire UK, “Japan [is] so culturally different from anywhere else on earth.” While, Katy, the owner of Untold Morsels, added thst she is “fascinated by the culture, food traditions and beautiful landscapes.”

The vast differences between Japanese culture and that of the United Kingdom—where majority of the travel influencers were polled—proves a magnet for bloggers, who are tasked with documenting their travels on social media. Likewise, India’s culture and cuisine proved a draw for travel bloggers looking to venture far ‘off-the-beaten-path.’

Clare of Suitcases and Sandcastles told Marie Clare UK that while in Kerala, she would “love to eat curries off a banana leaf, visit the elephants wandering around the temples, watch the fishermen pulling in their catch along the beautiful beaches and take a boat tour down the backwaters.”

Cuba, Antarctica, and New Zealand all snagged third place on travel bloggers’ bucket lists. Cuba, for its previously inaccessible nature, and Antartica and New Zealand for their untouched natural beauty.
