Andorra has a great range of restaurants, particularly in the capital of Andorra la Vella, where you can sample typical Andorran cuisine, such as mountain game or baked snails. There are also a handful of great French and Catalan restaurants, as well as tasty pizzerias. Here’s our list of the top ten restaurants in Andorra.

El Faisà

Meaning ‘The Pheasant’, El Faisà is located in a historic building in the capital of Andorra la Vella. Inside is cute and twee with wood-beamed ceilings, wrought iron lamps and cooking pots attached to the walls. They serve typical Andorran cuisine made from market-fresh produce, which includes mountain game and hearty stews. Save room for the delicious homemade desserts.

Borda Estevet

Another classic Andorran restaurant is Borda Estevet, which describes itself as ‘a mountain restaurant’ located in Andorra la Vella. The Catalan word borda means a typical rural stone building found in the Pyrenees, and Borda Estevet mimics this with their bare-stone walls, cosy fireplaces and high wooden ceiling. They serve tasty Andorran specialities such as trinxat (like bubble and squeak or hash browns made from fried mashed potato and cabbage, topped with bacon) and grilled mountain game cooked on a slate.

Can Benet

Found in the old quarter of Andorra la Vella, near the Casa de Vall, Can Benet has the same rustic feeling with stone walls and cute white-covered tables. It offers traditional Andorran dishes such as thick winter stews, baked snails, wild mushrooms and wild deer. As well as these, a number of Galician-style seafood dishes are also on offer such as lobster and stuffed spider crab.

Restaurante Celler d'En Toni

One of the best-known restaurants in Andorra, Celler d’En Toni has been open since 1964 and is run by three generations of the same family. Meals here are beautifully presented and are definitely Instagram-worthy. They have both a set menu and à la carte, offering dishes such as snails, freshwater trout, mountain game and Andorran cannelloni. Their desserts are also exquisite, if a little pricey. The highlight is the wine cellar, housing almost 12,000 different types of wines.

Versailles

Situated in the historic centre of Andorra la Vella, Versailles, as the name suggests, is a classic French restaurant. Inside is cosy and casual, where you can enjoy dishes such as foie gras, filet mignon, duck and fresh fish. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, and even on occasion offer a welcome glass of Cava. Try the traditional Crêpe Suzette for dessert.

This modern restaurant serves delicious and stylish food in the heart of Andorra la Vella. Dishes are traditional Andorran and Catalan-style, but with a contemporary twist. The excellent-value menu of the day feature dishes such as salmon tartare with goat’s cheese, roast chicken salad with mango and avocado, and pumpkin soup with roasted apple and croutons. It’s an excellent choice for lunch.

Pizzeria Les Oques

One of the best pizza restaurants in the country, Pizzeria Les Oques is a traditional Italian kitchen found in the town of Escaldes-Engordany. It’s a small, casual and relaxed place serving huge homemade pizzas, calzones and mozzarella salads. The staff are extremely friendly and will even make special heart or face-shaped pizzas for the kids. Don’t forget to order a scoop of gelato for dessert.

This stylish modern restaurant in Andorra la Vella has a bit of a pink and lilac theme going on with its bright pink tablecloths, rose-coloured orchids and purple table lamps. It serves big portions of French, Catalan and Andorran cuisine. Think big juicy steaks, duck with olive sauce and grilled Iberian pork. They also serve a great-value lunch menu, as well as pizzas, pastas and burgers, so that it’s sure to please everyone. The French-style desserts such as apple tarte tatin are must try.

Restaurante El Crosto

Restaurante El Crosto can be found on every best restaurant in Andorra list. It’s a small typical Catalan restaurant located in the historic centre of Andorra la Vella. Warm and cosy, it’s covered with wood panels and has a bit of a mountain chalet feel to it. Here, there is no printed menu; instead, owner Jordi will read out the specials of the day or tapas dishes, and you simply choose want you want. Plates include fresh figs with ham, rabbit pâté, duck, and grilled rabbit with white beans. They also have a good wine list.

El Refugi Alpí

A classy and romantic restaurant, El Refugi Alpí is located on Andorra la Vella’s best shopping street. It serves Franco-Alpine style cuisine and its menu is filled with plates such as fondues, cheesy raclettes, and meats cooked on hot stones. If you’re a fan of cheese, then this is definitely the place for you.
