October is one of the best months to see the northern lights as its still not too cold to go out at night yet prime season for appearances by aurora borealis. There’s plenty to do in the day too, from soaking in geothermal pools, sampling local delicacies and gawping in wonderment at the sheer brutal beauty of the landscape.
