Virunga Lodge

Virunga Lodge is a Volcanoes Safari-run property in Musanze, located just an hour away from gorilla tracking activities. Rooms and common areas overlook the stunning twin lakes and volcanoes, as thatched roof buildings, heavy stone paths, and roaring fire places add a lovely Rwandan ambiance. In addition to gorilla tracking, nature walks, boat tours, massages, and more are offered by the hotel. Settle next to the fireplace or on the scenic porch with a good book and a glass of wine.

Kigali Marriott

With a five-star rating and the best weekend brunch buffet in town, the Kigali Marriott is a comfortable, modern, and relaxing place to stay. Events, conferences, and meetings are hosted daily in the Marriott, but their focus on guests and quality does not waver. The Marriott also has an excellent spa, gym, and outdoor pool.

Cormoran Lodge

Offering a perfect view of a lakeside sunset and wooden bungalows perched on stilts, Cormoran Lodge is the place to go to get away from it all. Kayak trips, boat rides, tea tasting, and general relaxation are all available from this small boutique hotel, and the expansive hotel porch is perfect for sundowner drinks and evening card games.

Sabinyo Silverback Lodge

Operated by Governors Camp, the Sabinyo Silverback Lodge is a luxury hotel situated right next to Volcanoes National Park. It is the perfect place to stay while gorilla tracking, and the lodge’s beautiful mountainside location is romantic, quiet, and peaceful. The secluded rooms offer modern amenities, and the service goes above and beyond with coffee and tea room service in the morning, an all-inclusive meal plan, and truly individualized attention.

Paradis Malahide

Situated on the calm shores of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, Paradis Malahide is a paradise unto itself. Spend time lounging on their beachfront property with a book in hand, or hit the water with boat rides and kayak trips. The hotel interior decorations are decidedly lakeside rustic, but with certain amenities (like an included gourmet breakfast offering), the hotel is one of the best Lake Kivu has to offer.

Bisate Lodge

Bisate Lodge, the newest addition to Rwanda’s new focus on luxury tourism, is located just several kilometers from the Volcanoes National Park gates. It sits in the foothills of Bisoke Volcano, overlooking some of Rwanda’s stupendous rural landscape, and offers excellent food and unparalleled service. Though visitors stay here for gorilla tracking, the lodge also offers many tours around the local area, massages, and more. There are six rooms on the property, which only adds to the intimate and romantic setting. The beautifully designed rooms come equipped with a luxury bathroom and the country’s comfiest bed.

Ruzizi Tented Lodge

Ruzizi Tented Lodge is a family-friendly and all-inclusive lodge located in the southern corner of Akagera National Park on Lake Ihema. Offering small glamping tents that are eco-friendly and comfortable, Ruzizi is the perfect place from which to see many of the animals Akagera is famous for. Head to their beautiful wooden porch for delicious meals, star gazing, and hippopotamus watching.

Nyungwe House

Surrounded by lush green tea fields and mist covered hills, Nyungwe House is a destination unto itself. It is located next to Nyungwe National Park, and is close to chimpanzee trekking and many hiking paths. However, many guests find it unnecessary to leave the stylish property, and instead spend time lazing by the infinity pool overlooking the forest canopy, enjoying the hotel’s fine dining, and relaxing in luxurious rooms.
