Club de Golf del Uruguay

This club is located very close to Montevideo, Uruguay’s capital, and the Rio de la Plata River. Its tree-lined fairways are emblematic of Uruguayan golf. Although golf is the main sport practiced in this club, there are others such as fencing, karate, rugby, and more.

Cantegril Country Club was founded in Punta del Este in 1946, which makes it one of the oldest in the country. You can go there while visiting the sunny city, after or before hitting the beach. It consists of 18 holes that host several tournaments, like the regionally prestigious Copa de Oro and Copa Aníbal Vigil, and the Mercosur Cup, in which hundreds of international golfers participate.

La Tahona Golf Club

This golf club is located in the outskirts of Montevideo, only five minutes away from Carrasco International Airport. It counts two golf courses, one with 18 holes and another with nine, which are designed to tour around the beautiful gardens and shared spaces in La Tahona. There are also two swimming pools, two gyms, tennis courts, football fields, and more.

This splendid hotel is located near Colonia, one of Uruguay’s most beautiful historic cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s around two-and-a-half hours by car from Montevideo, and 45 minutes by ferry from Buenos Aires. The resort features a 1,250 square meter spa, a kid’s club, and a spectacular golf course that spans through Uruguayan eucalyptus trees, lakes, and a stunning view of the Rio de la Plata River.

La Barra Golf Club

La Barra is a very popular part of Punta del Este, away from the buzz of the city center. It is focused on a main street with shops, bars and restaurants, next to the amazing coast of the Atlantic Ocean. This course is great for a holiday because of its location, since you can alternate between playing, having the commodities of La Barra, and going to the beautiful beaches.

Club del Lago Golf

A Uruguayan architect called Enrique Serra designed this course, which can be played at three difficulties weaving between the pine trees. The site is drained and sandy, with beautiful landscapes of the big lake that is iconic in this country club.
