Ecuadorians love to eat dessert, so there’s no shortage of great cafes and restaurants to satisfy your sweet tooth. Many locations are close to favorite tourist stops dotted around the city. These are a few of our favorites.

Lucia Pie House

Restaurant, Restaurant with Rooms, American, BBQ

For American-style pie, check out Lucia Pie House in the La Floresta neighborhood. They have the crisp, flakey pastry down pat and fillings are delicious, if not all traditional. Favorites include Lemon Meringue (Pie de Limon) and Classic Cheesecake.

Cyril Boutique

Cafe, Pastry Shop, Patisserie, Dessert, Pastries

Cyril makes the best French-style pastries, cakes, tarts and cookies in Quito. Satisfy your sweet tooth while enjoying a cup of excellent coffee on their covered patio, or take your favorite selection of treats home.

Caffeto

Restaurant with Rooms, South American, Dessert, Tea , Vegetarian, Ice Cream

Caffeto makes ice cream concoctions like banana splits and brownie sundaes that are out of this world. While they have many traditional favorite flavors such as chocolate and vanilla, be sure to try some Ecuadorian tropical fruits like guanabana and maracuya. For the non-ice cream lovers, the cakes and pastries are very tasty too.

Hansel and Gretel

Bakery, Cafe, Dessert, South American, Tea

Hansel and Gretel bakes delicious cakes and pies. Their selection includes traditional Ecuadorian desserts like Milhoja, a layered cake made with layers of puff pastry, dulce de leche and cream, as well as international favorites such as Tres Leches, Black Forest and Carrot Cakes. There are several Hansel and Gretel eateries around Quito.

Crepes and Waffles

Restaurant, Dessert Shop, Dessert, Fusion

With multiple locations around town, Crepes and Waffles is an Ecuadorian favorite for sweet and savory options. The dessert crepes and waffles glisten with the addition of their delicious house-made ice cream. Check out flavors like tamarind and taxo.

San Honore

Not far from the Rumipamba Archeology Park that overlooks Quito, San Honore serves some of the best cheesecake in town. Order by the slice or take home the entire cake. Other options include an international selection of cakes, cookies and quick breads.

Dulcería Colonial

Take a break from walking the cobblestone streets of historic Quito without missing a moment of people watching at Dulceria Colonial, a small cafe located on the Plaza Grande. Try traditional Ecuadorian favorites including higos con queso and sweet humitas, or a classic Volcán de Chocolate.
