São Paulo city is home to Brazil’s largest LGBT community. As such, there are a considerable number LGBT nightclubs and many other venues also organize LGBT-only parties. So where exactly are these clubs? Below is a list of the best the city of São Paulo has to offer.

A Lôca

Nightclub

The underground nightclub A Lôca is located on Rua Frei Caneca, known as the heart of São Paulo’s LGBT community. The club offers several parties at different times of the week, each with a different theme. Whether you visit on Tuesdays for Tapa na Pantera (Pot/Cannabis Smoke) party with electronic and pop music or on Thursdays for the Loucuras (Crazy) party with retro music that takes you back in time to the 1970s and 1980s, the club is always filled with joyful people. Opened 21 years ago, A Lôca today hosts several well-known parties, such as Grind on Sundays that brings crowds together to listen to rock, pop and 1980s music. Drag queen attractions are held occasionally on Thursdays and Sundays.

Opening Hours: Mondays closed; Tuesday-Sunday 12AM- last customer

Bubu Lounge Disco

Bubu Lounge Disco is conveniently located in Rua Dos Pinheiros, one of Pinheiros busiest streets. Considered by many as one of the three best LGBT clubs in São Paulo, Bubu Lounge plays mostly electronic music and retro, with the exceptions of Saturdays where a band plays Brazilian Popular Music (MPB). The unique thing about this club is that, every last Thursday of the month, it holds a women-only party called Bubu Só Para Elas that can gather crowds of up to 1,000.

Opening Hours: Open on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 12AM-6AM http://instagram.com/p/BPYBQ5IjGz7/?taken-by=bubulounge

Hot Hot is one of the few clubs that allows the purchase of entrance tickets online. With over 8,000 LED lights, the club offers a bright and colourful atmosphere. On the menu, drinks incorporated into fruit popsicles are the most popular, but if you wish to stay away from the alcohol, the club also offers candy machines, coffee and energy drinks. The two-story nightclub plays mostly electronic music, which rules the dance floors from Thursday through Saturday, with the exception of Wednesdays, when you’ll mostly hear rock. The club’s entrance price is moderate but the drinks are a bit pricey.

Opening Hours: Open Fridays and Saturdays 12AM-6AM

D-Edge

D-Edge is a popular club for anyone and everyone in São Paulo. From its synced music with the floor-to-ceiling LED lights, all the way to its heavy electronic music, most days of the week the club caters mainly to the heterosexual crowd. However, Fridays are reserved for the Freak Chic party, which is popular with the LGBT community for its glamour and fashion-themed night. Be warned, the club has one of the highest entrance charges of all LGBT clubs in São Paulo.

Club Yacht

As one of the hottest LGBT clubs in São Paulo, Club Yachtfollows a clear theme of, you guessed it, the sea. With statues of the Sea Goddess, 2-meter aquariums and barmen dressed as sailors, the club is bursting with the color blue, giving it a distinctly underwater feel. On Wednesdays, the club hosts its famous Lux party, with a focus on pop from as far back as the 1980s as well as today’s hits. Saturdays are for electronic music, ranging from EDM to House music for the Shout party. The entrance fee is one of the highest among LGBT bars in the city.

Opening Hours: Open from Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11:30PM to 6AM

The Week International

Nightclub

The Week International, known only as The Week, is one of São Paulo’s— and Latin America’s— biggest LGBT clubs. The club saw so much success that new venues were opened in Rio De Janeiro and Florianópolis. The 6000-square meter area offers two different dance floors, a pool and three lounges, as well as six bars and a garden to hang out in. On Saturdays and Fridays, the nightclub hosts its famous Babylon party, originally inspired by the television series Queer as Folk. Several famous DJs play here, including occasional international stars. The opposite of most clubs in São Paulo, women actually pay more then men to enter The Week.

Opening Hours: Open on Saturdays 11:30PM-8AM
