Nicole Pinheiro began her blog, The Fashion Hall, with fellow style lover and bestie Marília Queiroz after realizing that their long-standing involvement in fashion meant their knowledge could be useful to others. Today, The Fashion Hall and Nicole Pinheiro have a loyal following of fans who check out not only recommended top looks, but also makeup trends, home decor and travels. Discover her best tips for fashion right here.

Don’t be afraid to mix black and blue

The old rule was that black and blue should never mix, but modern street style has evolved, says Pinheiro. This chic and ultra-modern look can be eased into, she says, with black jeans and patterned top that includes both hues. She loves experimenting with athleisure fabrics as well as heavier winter ones, like wool and velvet, to get the right combo. Her favorite black and blue look right now is all-blue with a pop of black in the form of shoes and a purse.

Accessorize your locks

Headbands and barrettes aren’t just for little ladies anymore. Nicole Pinheiro shows on her blog how you can elevate your look with a well-placed, elegant hair accessory. This is the perfect option for those who aren’t comfortable with hats but still want to add a punch to their style. Pinheiro shows several accessories that go with any hair style and can be combined with a variety of outfits.

Show more shoulder

Pinheiro often touches on a trend that in Brazil is a consistent fashion win: off the shoulder tops and dresses. This look offers a delicate balance of showing some skin without overdoing it. Pinheiro shows how it can be incorporated into a street style or a dressed up for that special night out.

Upcycle your garments

Even though she’s a fashionista with a closet (or two, perhaps) full of classic and trendy designs, Pinheiro also insists on modernizing older pieces instead of just ridding your closet of them, and gives the examples of adding patchwork to a jean jacket or even a neutral purse. She recommends creating layers on other pieces, such as adding lace and then floral appliqués to bring out a new volume. Her final tip is taking a bit of paint and going a little wild – splattering it on leather shoes for a ultra cool effect.
