BASE Woodfired Pizza

BASE Woodfired Pizza is a family restaurant, owned by Chris, Andy and Rod Thompson. The three developed the idea for the restaurant around their own wood fire oven, making pizzas for their neighbors after an earthquake caused power outages. Their commitment to fresh, original flavors and high-quality pizza has made this restaurant a firm Christchurch favorite since its opening in 2010. BASE first began business in a mobile unit but now resides in one of the shipping containers in Christchurch’s infamous Re:Start shopping mall. This slice of joy not only brings delicious food to the Christchurch community but supports its local business by using local ingredients.

Joe’s Garage Sumner

Joe’s Garage Sumner promises and delivers everything you’re expecting from a cool garage environment. Great drinks, tasty food, good music and attentive, efficient staff to make your dining experience perfect. There are many branches of Joe’s across New Zealand, but the chain has sadly not made it across the world for others to enjoy just yet. Particularly favored by diners is the ‘Cajun Joe’ – consisting of harissa marinated chicken breast, cherry tomatos, caramelized onions, fresh rocket leaves, Joe’s tomato sauce, mozzarella and minted yogurt dressing.

Tutto Bene

Foremost in the commitment of Tutto Bene is to bring their diners an authentic and delicious taste of Italy. The restaurant evokes the old-fashioned, rustic Italian warmth and hospitality that made Italian culture and food so cherished. Tutto Bene will cater for any occasion and party-type. Whether you’re seeking a romantic dinner for two or a filling family dinner, Tutto Bene is the place to be. Indoors or outside on their gorgeous terrace, you’ll have an unforgettable meal.

Winnie Bagoes Ferrymead

At ‘Winnie’s’, you can expect to find high quality, gourmet pizzas at low prices. Every pizza is handmade with fresh ingredients and recipes and traditional preparation techniques that have remained unchanged for 20 years. The team here prides themselves in their ability to create new and exciting flavors to revolutionize this comfort food veteran. Nothing perfects a social gathering more than being sharing a slice of heaven, which is just what you’ll find here. In particular, we recommend ‘The Raffaele’ – with its garlic butter base, chili flakes, chorizo and brie topped with rosemary and lemon zest.

Cocopelli

Cocopelli offers the irresistible combination of mouth-watering gourmet pizza and an excellent variety of drinks to wash it down with – what more could you ask for? Cocopelli will cater for any dietary requirement, most of the menu is available as a gluten free dish. They are also committed to only using free-range eggs and fresh local produce to ensure the freshest flavors. With your pizza, you can enjoy sides, drinks, antipasto, pizza bread and alcoholic beverages that will complement and enhance the excellent flavors.

The Brewery

Cassels & Sons’ Brewery restaurant and cafe is a jewel on the Christchurch food scene. It specializes in award-winning craft beer and European-style thin base pizzas. The pizzas are available both for lunch and dinner and so fine quality is yours to enjoy throughout the day. Some especially notable items include the ‘Horotane’ with olive oil base, pear, blue cheese, bacon and thyme, as well as the ‘Linwood’ – with BBQ base, mozzarella, free range chicken, kransky, bacon and smoked cheese.

Spagalimis Pizza Restaurant

The story of Spagalimis Pizza Restaurant is a great story of quality prevailing over quantity. The small pizzeria initially opened in 1978 and was staffed by seven people, able to house just over 40 people. Today, having relocated to a larger venue due to its popularity, Spagalimis Pizza Restaurant welcomes diners in numbers well over its 130-person capacity. The restaurant offers dine-in and takeout so you can enjoy their excellent food on a night out or a cozy night in. A novelty favorite is the ‘Apricot Chicken’ with chicken, tomato, mushrooms, celery, and ‘Spag’s’ homemade apricot sauce.
