For all the Sunshine Coast’s beauty and sensational sights, it has been slow to the foodie game. Until fairly recently, there weren’t many options beyond delicious fresh fish and chips and the local Thai place. Lucky for us, it’s finally upped its game and has some fantastic new options like tapas, Mexican and fresh contemporary Asian.

1. Bistro C

Bistro, Contemporary, Seafood, Australian, Vegetarian, Vegan

Bistro C was one of the first brilliant bistros on the Sunshine Coast with spectacular views, impeccable service and a delicious menu all in one. They’ve earned themselves a solid reputation and kept it strong for many years. Enjoy the beach view at Noosa over breakfast, lunch or dinner. As it’s only a few steps from the sand, you can work off your meal with a leisurely stroll along the beach.

2. Wasabi

Restaurant, Bistro, Japanese

The owners of Wasabi are focused heavily on authentic Japanese food and staying true to their Japanese roots, while, at the same time, using locally sourced ingredients. The restaurant has their own local farm, which provides a lot of ingredients used in the Wasabi menu in conjunction with super-fresh seafood caught daily.

3. Pier 33

Bistro, Restaurant, Seafood, Contemporary, Healthy

This is the ultimate Sunshine Coast foodie heaven – in a relaxed setting on the edge of beautiful Mooloolaba with a menu packed with fresh coastal flavours. Pier 33 is owned by the same talented people that brought us the Gold Coast’s Rick Shores so if that’s anything to go by, you know their cocktails will be fine and the soft shell crab rolls will blow your socks off.

4. Bombetta

Pizzeria, Restaurant, Italian, Fast Food

A new(ish) modern and trendy Italian option, perfect for those nights that you can’t be bothered to cook and want a pizza that will hit the spot.

5. Nguyen Brothers

Restaurant, Vietnamese, Asian, Vegetarian, Vegan, Healthy, Fast Food

Authentic Vietnamese food and the balmy Sunshine Coast are a match made in heaven. Enter Nguyen Brothers with their light and fresh menu – perfect for those long, hot summers. On a hot day, go for the rice paper rolls or one of their delicious salads full of fresh herbs that pack a punch.

6. Spirit House

Restaurant, Thai

Nestled in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast, the Spirit House has created a reputation for itself that is known around the country. Not only do they do spot-on Asian cuisine, but you can also learn how to make some of their most delicious dishes at their onsite cooking school. This one is an absolute must-visit when you’re at the Sunshine Coast.

7. The Boat Shed

Restaurant, Fusion, Tapas, Australian

With some of the freshest seafood on the Sunshine Coast and beautiful riverfront views over the calm waters of Cotton Tree, The Boat Shed is an old favourite. Modern Australian tapas, local seafood and cocktails are all done brilliantly here.
