The Best Vegan Restaurants In Brisbane, Australia

The vegan and vegetarian cuisine industry is booming in Brisbane, with more plant-based and meat-free menu options available than ever before. Delis and cafes specializing in salads, sandwiches, and wraps now occupy just as much city center real estate as the chain restaurants or burger bars. We’ve put together a list of the best vegetarian and vegan restaurants throughout Brisbane.

Botanica

Botanica is a relative newcomer to Brisbane’s vegan scene, but it’s quickly made a name for itself as a takeaway-only venue that offers simply some of the finest freshly made salad boxes and sweet treats in the city. The salad boxes come in many shapes and sizes. Breakfast boxes typically feature honey nut overnight oats and vanilla and toasted coconut Chia pudding, and for the lunchtime rushers options include a shaved raw broccoli, dehydrated cranberries and almonds, and raw garlic and cashew cream box, as well as cumin roasted carrots with quinoa, raisins and parsley with hummus dressing. For those with a sweet-tooth, take a blueberry and lemon mini tea cake with a pistachio glaze for the road.

1. Govinda's Restaurant

Restaurant, Vegetarian

Keeping Brisbane’s vegans well-fed for two decades, Govinda’s Restaurant is well worth a visit even if you’re an avowed carnivore. With locations in the West End and Brisbane City, Govinda’s serves up Hare Krishna food with a North Indian influence, meaning a strong focus on organic and full-bodied flavors. The all-you-can-eat feast is a surprisingly economical lunch option which can be complemented by a gluten-free cheesecake afterwards, or a plate of koftas during.

2. Green Edge

Cafe, Restaurant, Healthy, Vegan, Vegetarian

This Windsor cafe’s plant and vegan-based menu proclaims itself as an animal and planet-friendly selection. Customers will certainly warm to Green Edge after they’ve sampled the meatless ‘burger’ or the weekend breakfast for two, which features scrambled tofu with spring onions and capsicum, hand cut chips with rosemary sea salt and grilled mushrooms.

3. Café O'Mai

Cafe, Vietnamese

At this Annerley cafe focused on traditional Vietnamese cuisine, vegetarian options are available at both lunch and dinner times, from the soups to the teas. Stars of the show at Café O’Mai are the refreshing pho soup with tofu and the lemongrass tofu vermicelli salad, but don’t be afraid to branch out and sample the green papaya salad and the vegetarian crepes to wrap in lettuce for dipping.
