Opal, which comes from the Greek word opallios, means “to see a change in colour”, and nowhere will you find a more brilliant selection of these rainbow gems than in Australia. Not only is the opal the birthstone for October, but it is also the national gemstone of Australia. From black to white and boulder opals, the country is home to them all and now accounts for 95 percent of the world’s opal supply. If you’re looking for a timeless souvenir from Australia, then shop for precious opals at one of these reputable sellers.
