How to Spend Three Days in Brisbane

Brisbane might be a small city but it packs a punch in relaxed entertainment and fabulous weather, perfect for getting out and about. It will make your life easier if you stay somewhere along a train line, if you’re not staying in the city. Look for close proximity to public transport or hire a car – parking is generally doable in Brisbane if you’re staying on the outskirts of the city. Act like a local and see the parts of Brisbane that tourists wouldn’t always see, but try and squeeze in a couple of typical touristy visits.

Head to one of Brisbane’s Coolest Neighbourhoods for breakfast to kick off your stay. Spend the first day in the city and explore touristy areas like South Bank, including GOMA, the Esplanade and Streets Beach. There are heaps of options for lunch, dinner and all the coffees you might need in this part of town, especially on Grey Street. While you’re over this side of the river, have a cocktail and dinner at West End or South Brisbane. You can find heaps of options for any budget in these areas.

If you’re in Brisbane, you have to make the short journey (an hour) to one of our beautiful Coasts. If you head south, park yourself at Burleigh Heads, as there are so many good food and craft beer options around here. Try Paddock Bakery and Burleigh Brewing Co and of course, have a swim at the beautiful local beach!

If you’re heading north, head to Cotton Tree and have a float down the river, which is attached to the mouth of Maroochydore beach. Just a street back from the river, you’ll find a heap of shopping and food options, so have a lazy wander before heading back to the city.

It’s your last day, so kick it off early with a walk around New Farm Park or enjoy one of Brisbane’s many hiking trails. Jump in your hire car and head to Cedar Creek Falls for a morning swim to escape the heat (which is about 80% of the year in Brisbane!) Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the fresh air.

On the way home from the falls, stop in at Samford Village for a quick coffee and wander. It’s a small town vibe only 25 minutes from the city.

Head to James Street in New Farm for pre-dinner cocktails and find somewhere along this delicious strip to dine. James Street has a fantastic vibe at night, lit up with fairly lights.

It's the personal contact, the personal experiences. I love meeting people from all over the world... I really like getting to know everyone and feeling like I'm traveling with a group of friends.

I have so many places on my list, but I would really lobe to go to Africa. I consider myself an “adventure girl” and Africa feels like the ULTIMATE adventure!

Connect with like-minded people on our premium trips curated by local insiders and with care for the world

Since you are here, we would like to share our vision for the future of travel - and the direction Culture Trip is moving in.

Culture Trip launched in 2011 with a simple yet passionate mission: to inspire people to go beyond their boundaries and experience what makes a place, its people and its culture special and meaningful — and this is still in our DNA today. We are proud that, for more than a decade, millions like you have trusted our award-winning recommendations by people who deeply understand what makes certain places and communities so special.

Increasingly we believe the world needs more meaningful, real-life connections between curious travellers keen to explore the world in a more responsible way. That is why we have intensively curated a collection of premium small-group trips as an invitation to meet and connect with new, like-minded people for once-in-a-lifetime experiences in three categories: Culture Trips, Rail Trips and Private Trips. Our Trips are suitable for both solo travelers, couples and friends who want to explore the world together.

Culture Trips are deeply immersive 5 to 16 days itineraries, that combine authentic local experiences, exciting activities and 4-5* accommodation to look forward to at the end of each day. Our Rail Trips are our most planet-friendly itineraries that invite you to take the scenic route, relax whilst getting under the skin of a destination. Our Private Trips are fully tailored itineraries, curated by our Travel Experts specifically for you, your friends or your family.

We know that many of you worry about the environmental impact of travel and are looking for ways of expanding horizons in ways that do minimal harm - and may even bring benefits. We are committed to go as far as possible in curating our trips with care for the planet. That is why all of our trips are flightless in destination, fully carbon offset - and we have ambitious plans to be net zero in the very near future.
