According to a new survey, American travellers want to visit the beautiful land of Australia more than anywhere else in the world.

Conducted by the peeps at Travel Leaders Group, a nationwide survey that spanned the epic expanse of America revealed that Australia is at the top of every American’s bucket list.

What came after, you’re wondering? The glorious cityscapes of Italy, the fabulous island of Bora Bora, the emerald isle that goes by the name of Ireland and finally middle earth itself, New Zealand.

According to the Travel Leaders Group CEO Ninan Chacko, people want to visit Down Under because:

‘Australia is undeniably captivating to many Americans. With a size mirroring that of the continental US, it offers immense variety from cosmopolitan cities to the rugged outback and from world-class beaches and the Great Barrier Reef to award-winning wine regions.’

To give you a little bit of wanderlust, here are just a couple of places Americans have on their radar:

Explore the vast expanse of the Great Barrier Reef…

Hug a Koala…

Visit the wonderscape of Uluru…

Get up close and personal with crocs in the Northern Territory…
