Full of diverse cultures and a thriving music scene, Milwaukee Wisconsin, is a great destination. With a burgeoning craft scene it’s also a fine place to discover some top-notch beers. Here is a selection of some of the best microbreweries in town.

Milwaukee Brewing Co

While exploring downtown Milwaukee, stop by this brewery for a taste of local ingredients and innovative ales. Milwaukee Brewing Company has been producing beer since 1997, when the company was smaller and housed in the Milwaukee Ale House. Enjoy such flavors as Polish Moon and Louise Demise year-round, as well as a number of seasonal varieties. All of these and more can be tasted on the “beer in hand” tour that this brewery offers.

Lakefront Brewery

Located right on the Milwaukee River is Lakefront Brewery. Beginning with a simple home-brewing book and their own handmade brewing equipment, this family-run brewery now produces over 33 thousand barrels of beer annually. Lakefront creates a diverse spread of pumpkin and fruit beers, as well as organic and gluten-free beers in an entirely green environment. On each tour, visitors receive four six-ounce tastes of beer and a signature souvenir glass for enjoying another complementary beer later on.

Sprecher Brewery

Celebrating 30 years of brewing, Sprecher focuses on reviving and keeping true to the flavors of distinctly high-quality regional beer. The brewing process takes after traditional European brewing and results in a variety of German, English, and Irish beers on a regular basis, along with seasonal choices on a rotating basis. Sample four different types of beer on the tour and bring home a novelty glass to remember the event.

Brenner Brewing Company

One of Milwaukee’s newest breweries, Brenner Brewing Company combines a passion for art and music with fantastic beer. Tours here are given by the brewery’s own brewmaster, which helps create the intimate experience visitors will have when exploring the flavors of beer offered. Enjoy unique flavors such as the complex Brenner Amber, while experiencing an art-centered and community-focused microbrewery. Whether hanging out in the tasting room or participating in the tour, Brenner Brewing Co is a great stop for some new hops tipples.

Water Street Brewery

Having opened its doors in 1987 as Milwaukee’s first brew pub, Water Street Brewery offers a plethora of traditional and unique beers. Tours of the facility are led by the brewmaster himself, who can explain all about the process of creating these award-winning beers. Because it is a brew pub, Water Street Brewery is also home to a top-class chef cooking up a storm of delicious beer-worthy meals. Explore gluten-free and green options while enjoying the fantastic environment of this downtown location.

Biloba Brewing Co

Remaining strongly rooted in community, Biloba Brewing Co brings a unique and intricate twist to brewing, creating deeply complex craft beers. Starting small, this brewery has grown to include a tasting room where visitors can tap into some of the delicious beers or buy growlers to take home. The room is fashioned after German beer halls and is a fun place to meet up with locals and prep for a tour. Although small, this brewery will call customers back for another pint of its specially crafted and phenomenal hops creations.
