Australian Pie Co.

Empanadas with minced meat.

If you’ve been to Australia, you’ll be familiar with the concept of meat pies for meals. If not, this place is a wonderful discovery. The place is small and serves meat pies and sausage rolls fresh and hot, or even frozen for take-out. Many people opt for the latter, as these can be taken to lunch at work or even served at parties and gatherings. The larger nine-inch meat pies are meant for two people, though you might end up ordering three between two, they’re that good.

Bistro Baffi

Pasta dish

Bistro Baffi is considered by many to be the single best restaurant in Burien, if not the entire Seattle area, for Italian food. The risotto with lamb or lobster is amazing, as are the stuffed mushrooms and the pasta. Just about every dish is perfect, with fresh ingredients from Pike’s Market bringing up the game. A little off the beaten path, it’s also quiet and loaded with an uber friendly local crowd.

La Costa

Mexican Food

Another Mexican favorite in the Burien area, La Costa boasts a homely ambience along with great food. Well priced and great quality ensures you’ll leave satiated and satisfied from this one, while the menu options are virtually limitless. The joint tends to get crowded on the weekends, when a buzzing crowd of chattering locals takes over.

Buxx Teriyaki

If you’re looking for a quick meal to warm you up without too much hassle, teriyaki is a great option. Buxx Teriyaki is probably the best teriyaki restaurant in the area, and you get great options with both vegetarian and meat and seafood. The yakisoba is their calling card, and is a must have, as is their fried rice. Lunchtimes are very busy, and it helps if you call about 10 minutes in advance with your order.

Marlaina’s Mediterranean Kitchen

Mediterranean food is always a favorite, and Marlaina’s does it amazingly well. Enjoy the great ambience and the opportunity to taste some amazing food here. The menu is not massive but each dish is prepared with care and tastes great. The rich and spicy flavors of the Mediterranean are brought out very nicely and the range of wines complements the food very well. There are also some great vegetarian options and the stews and kebabs will satiate your hunger pangs thoroughly.
