Just feed “the Enchantments, Washington” into Google Maps and one thing will strike you – it’s pretty hilly. Part of the Cascade Mountain Range, this lake-festooned region is an alpine wonderland of pristine bodies of water set among polished granite, soaring peaks and blazing larches. If you’re the outdoorsy type, you can’t go far wrong, and we’re here to recommend some top-notch shelter to you for the end of the day with these great hotels – now bookable on Culture Trip.

The Hampton brand has really leaned into the alpine feel here – with an almost Bavarian offering housed in a chalet-style building. The modern and welcoming lobby leads to airy, contemporary and comfortable rooms and suites, complete with attractive and swish bathrooms. All accommodation includes a complimentary breakfast, too. The Nutcracker Museum is a five-minute drive away – and you’ll be 2mi (3km) from both the Wenatchee National Forest and Leavenworth Ski Hill.

2. Alpine Rivers Inn, for Bavarian bliss

The Bavarian vibe continues here – as this guesthouse bids you a big Herzlich Willkommen to Alpine Rivers Inn. On the edge of the Wenatchee River, you’ll be getting a true alpine experience here, but just moments from Leavenworth’s vibrant downtown. The accommodation feels very national park-esque, festooned in wood and taking full advantage of the stunning location. There’s a complimentary – and no-doubt hearty – breakfast, a seasonal outdoor swimming pool and a year-round hot tub, plus all-important wifi.

3. Bavarian Lodge, for cabin luxe

Are you detecting a theme here? Perhaps centered on a certain German region? Yep, the family-run Bavarian Lodge combines the charm of a small country inn with all the amenities of a big-city hotel. The cozy and traditional log cabin-style rooms have excellent views, plus oversized beds and complimentary wifi. There’s a homey, wood-paneled pub where you can warm your feet next to the fireplace, in addition to a complimentary breakfast – we’re not sure if there’s any bratwurst, though.
