Mountain Home Lodge is a beautiful resort tucked away in the Cascade Mountains. Dinner is served Saturday nights and reservations are mandatory as it is a small intimate dining room. Using locally sourced ingredients in their contemporary cuisine, including produce from the resort’s organic garden and orchards, menus change each week and can be customised to guests’ dietary needs. The orange and thyme-brined roasted game hen with wild rice pilaf and bundles of green beans and vanilla carrots is one exquisite highlight from a previous menu. Along with homemade bread and tantalising desserts, such as sweet summer peaches and cream angel food cake with freshly whipped cream, plus an excellent list of wines, diners can also expect exceptional service and breath-taking views of the Cascades at this gem.

The Gingerbread Factory

With an exterior that resembles a gingerbread house and sweet aromas wafting in the air, visitors will know they have entered The Gingerbread Factory. A staple in Leavenworth since 1989, this charming restaurant and bakery serves breakfast and lunch in addition to their tantalising baked goods. Highlights from the breakfast and lunch menus include a veggie quiche with cheese and fresh vegetables and the ‘Keller’ wrap, which consists of ham, cheddar and Swiss cheese, grilled onions, and Andreas Keller mustard wrapped in a tortilla. Large soft cookies, scones, and cinnamon rolls are just a few of their bakery selections, which are baked throughout the day to ensure freshness. Respecting the dietary needs of their patrons, they also offer gluten-free options.

Andreas Keller Restaurant

Opened in 1989 by David Forchemer, Andreas Keller Restaurant is a friendly Bavarian-styled establishment with live music nightly and features authentic German cuisine. Staying within the family, it is now owned-and-operated by his daughter, Heidi. Many of the mouth-watering recipes come from Germany, and they are made with the highest quality of ingredients available. Some choice dishes to note include the Bavarian-style pretzel, kasespatzle, which is delicious homemade egg noodles with Emmental cheese and green onions and the favourite jaegerschnitzel schweizer art, a grilled pork cutlet topped with Swiss cheese and mushroom sauce. Leave some room for a piece of schwartzwalderkirschtorte, better known as black forest cherry chocolate cake, you will not be disappointed.

South

South is a delicious restaurant and bar serving modern Latin cuisine and creative Latin-inspired drinks in a lively atmosphere that includes live music on Friday nights. Featuring South American, Mexican, Cuban, and Caribbean flavours, South uses only the finest ingredients, including hormone and antibiotic free meat plus GMO-free corn tortillas. Diners have an extensive selection to choose from, including the most popular dish, carnitas, and the cubano burrito, which is a flour tortilla stuffed with holiday rice, fried banana, grilled onion, salsa, avocado sauce, and lettuce. The lunch and dinner menus also feature several vegetarian and vegan options plus five different salsas and homemade chips.
