Williamsburg, Virginia, is a destination for those wanting to explore Colonial-era America, as well as take in more modern delights such as golf courses and amusement parks. Accommodations range from high-end resorts to quaint historical rooms and cottages right in town ideal for romantic getaways in Williamsburg. Here are the best.

1. King's Creek Plantation

King’s Creek is a modern take on plantation living, close to family attractions such as Busch Gardens. This luxe gated resort community offers one- to four-bedroom houses where you can enjoy an amenity-filled vacation with all the comforts of your own home. There are several swimming pools, an indoor aquatic center, whirlpools and saunas. Get in shape at the fitness center, play basketball or tennis, take your little ones to the playground or jog on trails through the rolling hills dotted with trees. Hungry? This lovely B&B is conveniently located in downtown Williamsburg between the Historic Area and the College of William & Mary (two-blocks away). You’ll be staying right on Merchants Square with excellent dining options and lots of local shops nearby. There are nine rooms, all uniquely decorated, with hotel-type amenities. In the morning enjoy the breakfast buffet in the lobby offering hot drinks, juices, muffins, cereal, fruit and hard-boiled eggs.
