Once a closely guarded Texan secret, Fredericksburg’s wineries have evolved into a destination unlike any other in the United States.

The people of Texas are a particular bunch, but Fredericksburg has been popular with them for years, thanks to its legendary shopping and bountiful peach crops. With a small-town feel, but the restaurants, shops and attractions of a much larger location, you won’t be short of things to do when you visit. Accommodation is plentiful, too – here are our favorite hotels and B&Bs near Fredericksburg’s wineries, all bookable on Culture Trip.

Rustic Americana is effortlessly balanced with elegant chic, with several different houses and lodges – from 19th-century cottages to frontier-esque log cabins – providing different perspectives on the unique character of the area. Continental breakfast and parking are complimentary, while other amenities include a swimmin’ hole – pronounced without a g – and a barbecue.

This inn is very proud of its free breakfast offering – a wide variety of favorites includes fresh fruit, omelets, mini waffles, Greek yogurt and bacon – and is based just 1mi (1.6km) from the National Museum of the Pacific War and 2mi (3.2km) from Texas Rangers Heritage Center.

7. Rarumpelpunzeldornaschenwittchen

Try saying their name after visiting a few wineries: Rarumpelpunzeldornaschenwittchen. A self-declared “enchanted B&B with a terrible name”, it won’t surprise you to know that there is a slightly Germanic theme here. Two charming wooden cottages inspired by the Grimm fairytales are situated in a beautiful garden – one called Rapunzel and the other Rumpelstilzchen. Close to many wineries and the Pedernales River, this adorable accommodation has loft bedrooms, kitchenettes and living areas – and breakfast is served in-room.
