We’ve all felt the late-night rumble of an anticipated pie craving. It usually hits around 10pm on an unseasonal weeknight, when all pie outlets have long closed their doors, and the prospect of making a pie is as realistic as making it to the moon under your own steam. Enter: the pie vending machine, open 24 hours a day.

The world’s largest squirrel statue, named Ms Pearl and clocking in at an impressive 14.5 feet tall, can be found on Highway 71 in Texas. When you’re looking to satisfy that pie craving, turn off when you see the enormous squirrel clutching a pecan bigger than your head.

Right next to the statue is the holy grail of snacking – a vending machine stuffed with full-sized, freshly baked homemade pecan pies.

Both of the landmarks belong to the Berdoll Pecan Farm, who have their headquarters nearby. Their popular pies were in such demand that the business installed a vending machine to keep pie lovers’ stomachs full around the clock. It’s stocked year round and refilled more frequently during the holidays.

It’s believed to be the first machine of its kind in the US, and is restocked throughout the day with warm pecan pies and other pecan-related goodies. There are also bags of nuts, if you can’t face eating an entire pie in the middle of the night.

So when all you can think about is your knife sliding through a sweet, sweet slice of pecan pie, know that there’s a solution that will make your heart sing.
