Denton is an American college town in the northern tip of Texas’ golden triangle. Denton celebrates its independent vibe and encourages visitors to explore all of its backstreets. Worth checking out are all of the many restaurants that Denton has, ranging from burgers and grills all the way up to perfect fine dining. Here are a few suggestions.

RG Burgers and Grill

Describing itself as a haven for hamburger aficionados, RG Burgers and Grill has something of a cult following in Texas’ Denton. The restaurant boasts homemade, hand-formed, patties that use only the finest cuts of meat and the most flavorsome seasonings. All of the burgers come with a side of unlimited French fries, so even the exceptionally hungry will find themselves full after a trip here. Options include the smokey joe, which comes with barbecue sauce, fried onions and cheese, and the All About Cheesey Cheese burger, which comes stuffed with cheddar, pepper jack, provolone, and Swiss cheeses.

Hannah’s Off The Square

Hannah’s Off The Square is a casual fine dining restaurant that serves exceptional food in a fancy, historic setting. Formerly used as a turn of the century blacksmith business, the building now inspires an eclectic menu that has been captivating diners for almost two decades. Chef Sheena Croft uses her southern heritage to produce upmarket comfort food; the menu includes delicious classics with innovative twists. The pork porterhouse comes with a side of balsamic glazed root vegetables and Peruvian peppers, while the beef cheek ravioli comes stuffed with truffled wagyu – delicious and indulgent.

OldWest Cafe

The OldWest Cafe in Denton is the original in a burgeoning family managed chain of cowboy themed eateries in Texas. Old West Cafe is famous for its iron skillets, which come filled with delicious breakfast options. These range from the cowgirl – with just one egg, one bacon, sausage or ham with two sides – to the rancher, which comes with three eggs, three bacon or sausage, and two large sides of your choosing.

Seven Mile Cafe

Seven Mile Cafe specializes in breakfast dishes. It has expanded to accommodate a coffee shop next door. As well as a mind blowing array of pancakes, dishes include oatmeal crème brulee, and a number of scrambled and poached egg dishes. Seven Mile is also renowned for its commitment to vegan and vegetarian dishes, making it a real crowd-pleaser of a location.

LSA Burger Co

LSA Burger Co is a quirky little Denton burger bar, boasting creative burgers, live music, and a roof garden/patio combination. LSA actually stands for “Lone Star Attitude”, which references the no-nonsense approach taken by Texans. Essentially, it is the pride taken in working hard, doing right, and helping those who need it. Burgers include the attitude, which is filled with smoked brisket, and also the Georgie Boy – a classic combination of bacon, cheese, and house style mayonnaise.

Giuseppe’s

Run out of an innocuous yet charming town house, Giuseppe‘s produces delicious and indulgent Italian food. Giuseppe Brownell – the restaurant’s owner and head chef – grew up in Umbria, Italy. Giuseppe’s focuses on doing traditional Italian food exceptionally well, so guests should expect a plethora of pizza and pasta options. There are also a number of specials – such as Italian sausage baked with mozzarella – which are well worth a try.

Frosty Drive N

Frosty Drive N, or “Mr Frosty,” is a much celebrated burger and milkshake bar in Denton. The venue has, quite literally, been serving the local residents for decades and is beloved by old and young in equal measure. The menu sticks to old classics, but has been known to branch out with one-time favorites such as the guacamole burger.

West Oak Coffee Bar

West Oak Coffee serves regular espresso style coffees and a great selection of filter options. Specialty drinks include cold brew coffee – which is on tap – and chocolate cold brew, where draft cold brew coffee is blended with chocolate milk. As well as a wonderful array of main dishes, the sweet pies are all the rage – be sure to try one.

Rooster’s Roadhouse

Rooster’s Roadhouse is the brain child of three Denton friends, born and bred, who sought to make the best burger and barbecue restaurant they could. The restaurant is a veritable hive of activity and, with each night hosting its own special offer, you can be sure of a great turn out all week. Menu items include pork tacos; the big cheese burger; and fried catfish with French fries and hush puppies (corn fritters to those not in the know).
