From rocket scientists to system architects, off-shore engineers to lawyers, and everyone in between, Houston is one of the nation’s most educated cities. Nowhere is that fact more apparent than in Houston’s pub trivia scene. Houstonians have a chance to flaunt their knowledge of art, science, history, film and more almost every night of the week. When thirsty nerds want to have a good time, these are the places they go.

Monday: Neil’s Bahr, 8pm

Bar, Pub

Hit the books because this is the big leagues of pub trivia. Neil’s Bahr is the nerdiest bar in Houston, so be prepared to face off against people who never miss an episode of Jeopardy. The quiz itself is hosted by the wonderful folks at Geeks Who Drink who provide creative quizzes and fantastic hosts. The cherry on top is that during scoring breaks, you’ll be able to play some of the N64 games they have or read one of the hundreds of comics that line the walls at this gloriously geeky venue. Sorry sports fans, you won’t find Monday Night Football on any of the TVs here, only old episodes of The Simpsons.

Specials: Steak Night!

Tuesday: The Flying Saucer Pub, 7pm and 9:30pm

Pub

The Flying Saucer Downtown hosts a lively quiz on Tuesday. The venue takes beer selection to another level. They’re guaranteed to have dozens of beers you’ve never tried. Order a saucer flight to try as many as possible. You can even join the UFO Club — they’ll keep track of each beer you try, and when you’ve completed the flight (199 Beers), they immortalize you in the Ring of Honor. The best part is that they host two quizzes back-to-back, giving your schedule some flexibility.

Specials: Beers are in constant rotation, ask your server.

Wednesday: Baker Street Pub & Grille, 8pm

Pub

This authentic English pub has everything you want in a neighborhood pub — friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere and reasonable prices. On Wednesday nights, Geeks Who Drink takes over and hosts a competitive quiz (don’t worry — Geeks Who Drink has a different quiz every day). Baker Street gets its name from the address of the famous detective Sherlock Holmes. This cozy pub will have you feeling like you’re sipping a pint across the street from Big Ben. Make sure to bring your powers of deduction.

Specials: $2.50 Domestic 22.5 ounces, $3.50 Select Imp. 22 ounces

Thursday: Griff’s, 8pm

Bar, Pub

This Houston institution is a no-frills Irish sports bar. The legendary host, Vern, is easily one of the most entertaining quizmasters in the city. Griff’s is the perfect place to play on Thursday night if you want to keep an eye on the Thursday Night NFL game. Trivia costs $3, which buys you a few hours of fun, access to the delicious nacho bar and jello shots. With a great atmosphere and reasonable prices, you’re sure to have a fun time.

Specials: $3 import drafts

Saturday: Darwin’s Theory, 7pm

Bar, Pub

Darwin’s Theory is a pub with a ton of personality. This eccentric venue is surely the most colorful bar in Houston. The superb graffiti art, multi-colored chairs and fine selection of arcade games create a playful atmosphere. The quiz is hosted by Geeks Who Drink, so you know it’s good. There’s a huge covered patio where dogs are welcome, so bring the pup along! Every bartender is very personable, and the place is never super busy; therefore, you can expect great service.

Specials: $4 dollar 40 ounces
