The Best Places for Bike Rental in Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis had very few bike trails in 2010. Now, there’s more than 400mi of them. You can bike alongside buffalo herds, in the middle of blue heron sanctuaries and across the mighty Mississippi River in Tennessee. You can even bike to breweries or past historical landmarks. Find out where to rent your wheels so you can enjoy these adventures to the max.

Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative
Revolutions Bicycle Cooperative has a clear mission: to connect people and help the environment by getting as many people as possible to use bikes. Bike rentals start at $25, and they even have a family cargo bike available to carry dogs or small children. If you want to support a good cause, this is your place. The organization provides free bikes for those in need (in exchange for volunteer hours.) It also offers free bicycle lessons and bike repair classes for the entire community.
Hyde Lake Wheel House
Shelby Farms, a gigantic municipal park, is one of the best places to bike in Memphis. It has more than 40mi of paved and unpaved trails for bikers of all levels (there is even a BMX track.) The Hyde Lake Wheel House is conveniently located in the park, with easy access to most of the trails. You can rent bikes for 1, 2 or 4 hours. They have kids’ bikes, as well as tandem bikes if you want to bike with a friend or family member. It can get crowded on nice days, and it’s recommended that you reserve your bike online ahead of time.
Explore Bike Share
Explore is Memphis’s easy-to-use bike share program. All you have to do is sign up on the app, and then you can take out and drop off bikes at stations across the city. Unlike other bike share programs, where you can only get a bike for 30 minutes at a time, this one allows you to buy a two-hour pass or even a weekly pass. This program is especially convenient for tourists because there are stations next to most attractions in both Downtown and Midtown, so you can get some exercise while taking in the sights.
Trek Bicycle Memphis
Trek Bicycle has three locations in Memphis: Downtown, East Memphis and Germantown. This means that regardless of where you are staying or biking, you’ll be close to a branch. The store is known for the vast expertise of its staff, who can fill you in on the latest bike technology or guide you to the best trail for you. Consider renting a road, hybrid or electric bike. For convenience and safety, all rentals include a helmet and a flat kit. Note that the company has stopped renting bikes during the coronavirus pandemic, but hopes to resume operation shortly.
Greenline Wheel House
The Greenline Wheel House is the second place to rent bikes within Shelby Farms Park. Unlike the Hyde Lake Wheel House, which is in the heart of the action, this rental place is off the beaten path, in a quieter part of the park. The shop is located on the Greenline, an 11mi paved bike path over an abandoned railroad. It’s easy to rent your bike and hop on the path for a cycling adventure that takes you throughout Memphis. This facility is currently closed due to the pandemic, so check the website to keep up to date.
