With summer right around the corner and spring fully in our sights (yes it’s been exceptionally warm and perfect in New York City the past several days), it’s time to reexamine where exactly you can cool off in NYC. Pools are hard to come by in this city, but we’ve discovered where you can track them down, and here is our guide.

Mr. Purple

Bar, Restaurant, American, $$$
A popular destination in the Lower East Side for its gorgeous views of lower Manhattan and its Euro-chic crowd, Mr. Purple also has a small pool that sits perfectly on the roof. The pool is almost more for show than anything but if you manage to get a reservation at the adjoining hotel, you’ll surely be able to take a dip to cool off.

This New York City hot spot in the Meatpacking District is a member’s only social club (undoubtedly modeled on its London predecessor) where a membership includes access to the clubhouse, the restaurant, lounge, bar, and you guessed it: a rooftop pool! The Soho House is the perfect and very trendy place to cool off in NYC.

This pool is part of the hotel’s La Piscine and you can probably get in and enjoy some food and drinks at the restaurant/bar, but actually taking a dip would require a day pass or a hotel reservation. It’s a lovely space to spend the day if you have the time!

Gansevoort Park Avenue

Building, Park
This rooftop pool, located on lower Park Ave, is a bit tough to get into but they have a rooftop bar near the pool, so perhaps you can make some friends that are staying at the hotel and thus get a ticket to the pool. You’ll get some great views of the Empire State Building!

This hotel and its rooftop bar: The Jimmy, is an excellent place to see some Manhattan skylines, enjoy a cocktail and even dip into the rooftop pool (if you happen to be so lucky). There are a lot of photo opportunities with the large “LOVE” sign with a background of the city.
