L'isola

L’isola looks and tastes like a pricey Italian restaurant without the steep prices. The name refers to the owners’ Sicilian roots — and it’s all about traditional, wood-fired pizza. They have other items such as pasta on the menu as well, but their artisanal pizza is a must-try. Opt for the the arucola e Parmigiano, a margherita pizza with arugula and Parmesan. Or, try the faccia di vecchia, a tomato sauce-based pizza with breadcrumbs, anchovies, Parmesan cheese and onions.
Vinnies

Vinnies is the definition of a family joint. Started by Vinnie 50 years ago, this is the place for delicious food and friendly faces. Vinnies offers a variety of interesting pizza options such as the ‘Mac Attack’, which is essentially bacon mac and cheese on a pizza. There are additional options for people with special dietary restrictions, such as vegetarians, vegans, and those who are gluten-free. Visit one or both of their two locations in Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn.

Despite renovating the restaurant’s interior a few years ago, Vincenzo’s has kept their recipes intact. They offer locals a great slice of pizza for reasonable prices. A popular spot for St. John’s University students, Vincenzo’s is almost always busy, so you know the food has to be good. Vincenzo’s offers special deals throughout the week. Top it all off with their baklava or a cannoli.

Fat Boys Pizza has just about everything; amazing burgers, heroes, and most importantly, pizza. Their sauce has a nice tanginess that’s complemented by their fresh mozzarella. They also offer some rather interesting toppings, including chicken parmigiana and Philly cheesesteak.

Started in 1975, Joe’s Pizza is still run by Naples native Joe Pozzuoli. People come from far and wide to taste Joe’s traditional pizza, which hasn’t changed since the day this venue opened. Joe’s prides itself on keeping their recipes unchanged. So, stop by for a delicious rendition of the classics.
Bleecker Street Pizza is delicious and authentic. Back in 2011, Bleeker Street Pizza was recognized by the New York Times as one of the city’s top five places to eat. Be sure to try their ‘Nona Maria’ or their ‘Grandma’ slice, always freshly made with Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Rosario's Pizza

Whether you’re walking around Lower East Side looking for a quick lunch or finishing up a late night, Rosario’s Pizza will always hit the spot. This pizzeria has survived the test of time, lasting through the neighborhood’s gentrification. Its location has changed since opening its doors in 1963, but they still have the same great slice. You can never go wrong with a regular cheese slice, or if you’d rather have a little something extra, try the buffalo chicken.
