Home to a number of city landmarks, the Mid-City neighborhood of New Orleans is on the National Register of Historic Places. Intersected by the historic Canal Streetcar line, it’s really easy to get to the city’s main attractions from here. The Quisby

The Quisby is a hip hostel in Mid-City with simple rooms and a buzzy atmosphere, making it a great place to stay on the cheap. Technically it’s outside the Mid-City area, but it’s still within walking distance of the best bars and restaurants in New Orleans, such as Barrel Proof and the Green Fork. There’s a 24/7 on-site bar called Quartz for late-night beers and during Mardi Gras, the parade passes right by the front door – book here for the best seat in the city.

Designed as a 20th-century rooming house, it has two lounges with books, games, movies and television. Sleeping arrangements include dorms and private rooms, either ensuite or with a bathroom down the hall.
