Anthony’s Cheesecake

Caramel pecan cheesecake at Anthony’s Cheesecake

As its name might suggest, homemade cheesecakes are the main deal at Anthony’s Cheesecake, and diners will find everything from a traditional New York-style cheesecake to fun and fancy incarnations like Oreo cookie, white chocolate macadamia and Italian ricotta. The cozy café’s talents don’t end at just cheesecake. Open for breakfast and lunch six days a week and dinner on Thursday nights, Anthony’s other offerings include the likes of build-your-own omelets, crispy buttermilk chicken and waffles and short rib cheesesteak disco fries, but for those really craving Anthony’s signature sweet treats, fear not, this place now ships their cheesecake nationwide.

Stamna Greek Taverna

Owners Alex and Angela Nissirios, natives of the Aegean Sea island of Karpathos, set up Stamna Greek Taverna in Bloomfield in 2008 after recognizing a lack of authentic Greek cuisine in northern New Jersey. Choose from appetizers like loukaniko (a seasoned Greek sausage) or dolmadakia (grape leaves stuffed with rice, fresh dill, lemon and Greek olive oil) and mains including soutzoukakia (meatballs in savory tomato sauce on a bed of rice) and grilled kalamari stuffed with feta cheese and peppers. Finish with a traditional dessert of baklava or Greek yogurt topped with walnuts and honey.

Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House

Bloomfield Steak & Seafood House is located within the old Davis Homestead, a beautiful building built way back in 1676, and the oldest pre-Revolutionary War structure in all of Bloomfield. Owned and operated by the Mitola family since 2002, the restaurant serves classic American surf ‘n’ turf fare, with dishes like pan-seared filet mignon with bleu cheese crumble and port wine reduction sauce, offered alongside options like blackened catfish served with black beans and rice. Desserts include the restaurant’s popular coconut sour cream cake and brownies topped with vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, caramel and whipped cream.

Spice Thai Cuisine

Don’t let its exterior fool you, within Spice Thai Cuisine’s tiny little space lies a world of authentically delicious Thai eats. Take a seat in the restaurant’s cozy surrounds to dine on dishes like deep-fried duck roll with cucumber, scallions, cilantro and hoisin sauce or tod mun (fish cake with cucumber dipping sauce) before mains like crispy duck in Panang curry sauce with kaffir leaves, string beans, carrots and coconut milk or gai ma muang (stir-fried crispy chicken with cashews, onion, scallion, red pepper and oyster sauce). Finish up with a dessert including Thai-style coconut flan or sticky rice with mango.

Bella Napoli

Nestled in a gorgeous property complete with a charming patio ideal for summertime al fresco dining, Bella Napoli is a family-owned and operated restaurant serving some of the best Italian fare in the area. Start with appetizers like broccoli rabe and fried calamari before mains like baked ziti with eggplant, veal piccata with mushrooms and capers or chicken cacciatore. Dessert dishes include the likes of cannoli, tiramisu and gelato; while Bella Napoli’s extensive wine list, featuring a range of selections from Italy, France, the USA and Argentina, makes the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

Taquería Auténtica

Authentic, casual Mexican eats are the focus at Taquería Auténtica, a popular local haunt that’s grown from humble beginnings as a food stand into a bricks-and-mortar restaurant. Tostadas, quesadillas and chilaquiles are all served, but tacos are probably its most popular dish; choose from fillings like slow-cooked pork with caramelized orange peel and salsa verde or house-made chorizo with spicy black beans and chipotle crema. Keep an eye out for Taquería Auténtica’s food truck, it’s available for private hire at parties and otherwise found at local events like the Summit Farmers Market and the NJ Taco Festival.

Casserole Bistro

A diverse and elegant mix of American and Mediterranean fare makes up Casserole Bistro’s menu. Chef Johnny Arango cooks up tempting small plates like jumbo lump crab cake with apple slaw and pomegranate sauce or spicy patatas bravas with garlic aioli to begin, followed by a wide choice of Italian-inspired dishes, think chicken marsala, veal saltimbocca and linguine in white clam sauce, and other mouthwatering mains like marinated skirt steak with fried plantains, rice and hot chimichurri or Chilean seabass on a bed of polenta and spinach. Inside, Casserole Bistro is as delightful as its cuisine with a cozy, intimate space, welcoming staff and understated elegance.

Pandan Asian Cuisine

Serving a fusion of Filipino, Vietnamese, Malaysian and Thai fare, Pandan Asian Cuisine is a foodie’s best bet for eclectic Pan-Asian eats when dining out in Bloomfield. Authenticity abounds on the cozy restaurant’s menu from appetizers like Vietnamese spring rolls with vermicelli, shrimp and mint or steamed pork dumpling, to entrées like Thai-style massaman curry with chicken, potatoes, onions and peanuts or the chef special ginataang pusit, a classic Filipino dish of squid and okra in spicy, creamy coconut milk. Stick around for dessert, they’re just as authentic as Pandan’s mains with options like lemon chiffon cake and sans rival.
