Does your packing checklist always include treats and chew toys? If yes, it might interest you to know that South Carolina’s Myrtle Beach is exceptionally critter-friendly. Whether you want to stroll along the beachfront boardwalk or take in the views from the SkyWheel, here are Culture Trip’s recommendations for pet-friendly hotels in Myrtle Beach.

Staybridge Suites Myrtle Beach – West

Staybridge Suites Myrtle Beach was designed with the cuddly co-traveler in mind. While you power through your to-do list in the on-site business center and meeting rooms, your mutt can play manager, barking orders to their heart’s content in your fully equipped suite with kitchen and workplace. You’re welcome to use Staybridge’s on- and off-site fitness centers, but with sunny South Carolina right outside your door, we suggest you grab a leash and spend some quality time out of office with your entourage – your family and/or furry ball of fun.

DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach

Hotel, Luxury

What good is a pet-friendly hotel without wide open spaces for your little darlings to enjoy? DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Myrtle Beach has more than just 27 acres (11ha) of property; it also stands right next door to Myrtle Beach State Park. You can scamper out of your ocean-view king suite and in seconds be running along the beach or through the trees. And when you’re panting for a bite, with on-site dining and room service, food needn’t come in cans – or pellet form.

Ocean Park Resort by Oceana Resorts

If the other hotels on this list are pet-friendly, then Ocean Park Resort by Oceana Resorts is pet-passionate. Yours will get the blue-ribbon treatment at this fine resort. Oceanfront rooms include a special gift for visiting animals. Doggie day-care services and on-site dog grooming services are also available. There’s even a dedicated doggy potty area outdoors so your pup won’t have to shamefully kick sand over their business at the beach like a – dare we say – feline.

The Patricia Grand by Oceana Resorts

No, it’s not doggie deja vu, Oceana Resorts (above) has another pet-friendly hotel in Myrtle Beach: The Patricia Grand. Where Ocean Park Resort was built for Scooby, The Patricia Grand was made for Scrappy, as they allow small dogs only. Leave yours to fall in love with the plush suite while you (and your family) make a splash in the indoor/outdoor pools and hot tubs. There’s a convenient coffee shop on-site too, just in case you need a pick-me-up when Fido is raring to go at sunrise.

Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort

Your dog may not know its luck in staying on the famous beachy Grand Strand, but your family sure will. At Westgate Myrtle Beach Oceanfront Resort, when the ocean loses its appeal (as if), the fun’s just beginning: they can cool down at the pool, thrill in in the lazy river, or cut a dash in the kid’s splash area. And if they do get “bored,” the resort has an activities department as varied as a Spotify list: there’s family bingo, arts and crafts, cooking, exercise classes and, on the wilder shores of fun, magic classes. If you pull a rabbit out of a hat, though, you’ll have to find another hotel to stay at – this one’s canines only.

Mermaid Inn

It makes sense that a place called the Mermaid Inn is going to cater to non-human guests. And whether you’re headed to South Carolina with your chihuahua or your great dane, there’s room for all creatures great and small at this relaxed end of Myrtle Beach. Family-owned and family-friendly, the Inn is a pleasurable place, painted in shades of marine green with a generous pool, and your room (two dogs permitted) is just footsteps from the beach. Leave the kids at the on-site playground while you and your pet have a morning run on the sand.

Darlington Inn

Hotel

Established in 1942, and family-run today, Darlington Inn knows a thing or two about the personal touch: so it’s fine by owners Terry and Wanda Hucks if you schlep your pup around wherever you go – their mission is to make you feel utterly at home, and animals are truly pampered at this old-school Myrtle Beach cottage. All rooms have balconies overlooking the pool or beach, where your dog can bask in the day’s rays without being frowned upon. If you want a little time to run free yourself, leave them to snuggle up in your suite for the afternoon while you take the trolley up and down Ocean Boulevard – to shop for a few new toys by way of a thank you, of course.

Vancouver Motel

Being on vacation with pets is wonderful, but getting there can be fraught. So hats off to Vancouver Motel, which is ridiculously handy for the airport and makes the whole trip tail-waggingly simple. What else is to hand? There’s the beach, the golf course and the Family Kingdom Amusement and Water Park. Checking in on your pooch or puss is super convenient, wherever you choose to spend your day. And for us the highlight is the outdoor pool: the perfect spot for a refreshing cool down after you’ve taken your dog on a walk up and down the beach.
