Natalie Guerrero

Boston is one of the top cities to explore because of its diverse culture and unlikely sights. There are so many hidden gems tucked into this amazing city that should not be missed. Here is a list of the top five in Boston, Massachusetts.

Bodega

Bodega

Bodega is one of Boston’s best-kept secrets. Located on Massachusetts Avenue in Back Bay, this store appears to be a regular bodega or corner store. Once you walk in, it becomes clear that it is so much more. The Bodega bouncer will press a button and, much like in a spy movie, the wall to the bodega will open and reveal an amazing urban apparel and sneaker store. Bodega is one of the trendiest hidden gems in Boston, so be sure to get in on the secret and check it out.

Boston Bike

Stay warm this winter while discovering Boston’s hidden tunnel. Most Bostonians are unaware that Park Street station and Downtown Crossing are connected by an underground tunnel that will save you from the cold. Pedestrians can use the tunnel to transfer from the green line to the orange line, which eliminates the extra stops on the red line during a long commute. Be sure to stay warm and utilize the Winter Street Concourse this snowy season.
Downtown Crossing

Lucy Parsons Center

The Lucy Parsons Center is located in Jamaica Plan, otherwise known to Bostonians as JP. This center is a volunteer-based bookstore and community outreach center with new and used books centering around the progressive movement. The Lucy Parsons center is great for political gatherings, civil rights conversation and getting educated on the world we live in today. The center is a rare yet deeply important bookstore and central to Boston.

SoWa

SoWa is a nickname for the colorfully splendid neighborhood that is south of Washington street. Similar to New York City’s SoHo, This neighborhood is filled with funky artists, galleries, and fun events. Watch out for ‘First Fridays’, where there are collective open studios on the first Friday of each month, or treat yourself on a Sunday to a stroll around the SoWa market.
