Shreveport, the third-largest city in Louisiana, is steeped in American history. It was founded after Captain Henry Shreve made the Red River navigable in the late 1830s, and a town sprung up on its banks. After World War II, the city’s revival came in the form of casinos on the riverfront, which remain popular today. Here’s our pick of the best cheap hotels in Shreveport, bookable through Culture Trip.

1. Hilton Shreveport, for rooftop views

Sometimes, we just want the basics; cozy, clean rooms (complete with Cuisinart coffee machines) and a rooftop pool with sprawling views over the city. The Hilton Shreveport offers just that. There’s a happy hour every day at the River & Rye bar, where you can catch a game on the big screen. It is also conveniently located near the Shreveport Convention Center and is within walking distance of many of the casinos.

Each bathroom offers a jetted tub and even better, your room has comfy bathrobes and king-sized beds with firm mattresses for a good night’s rest.
