Miller Pizza Company

Located near Miller Station, Miller Pizza Company is owned by a father-and-son team for over 30 years. They started the establishment with the simple objective of creating deep-dish pizzas like the ones they grew up eating in Chicago. No matter which kind of pie you choose, it’ll be stuffed with toppings and gooey mozzarella.

Arman’s Restaurant

Arman’s is another small-town favorite. It’s an ideal alternative to other national fast food chains in the area, largely because of its friendly and caring owner. Arman’s has long been popular with the locals, which is always a good sign. The interior is small but neat, and you’ll always find quality service here.

Big Daddy’s BBQ

BBQ

In Gary, the BBQ title goes to the award-winning Big Daddy’s BBQ. An ultra laid-back, no-frills kind of place, Big Daddy’s serves all the fixings. Come here for ribs slathered in sauce, fried chicken wings, beef brisket, pulled pork, collard greens, baked beans and more. Big Daddy’s is owned and operated by a dedicated couple, one of whom, of course, is Big Daddy himself.

Balkan Grill

Balkan Grill offers a welcome departure from more basic American-style cuisine as its menu specializes in Mediterranean and Balkan classics. This place makes a great stop if you’re passing through the area on a road trip, as it is located at a truck stop that’s en route to many places. Most patrons take their food to go, but there are a few tables inside the restaurant.

Great Lakes Café

Start your day off right in America’s heartland with a sound breakfast. This local gem is the place to do it in Gary. Plus, the interior at Great Lakes Café provides plenty of little snippets into life in this town. From newspaper clippings and photographs to antique décor and a hand-drawn daily menu on the white erase board, Gary is teeming with small-town authenticity.

NY Plate

NY Plate is a good spot to choose if you’re looking to please a group of diverse palates because it has an eclectic menu featuring items such as Philly cheesesteaks, gyros, catfish, chicken wings and more. NY Plate is perhaps most famous for its fried jumbo shrimps. The unpretentious interior is ideal for enjoying a casual lunch or dinner.

Flamingo Pizza of Miller

Pizza

Flamingo Pizza of Miller is housed in a hip interior of exposed brick and dowsed in dim candlelight. Come here to enjoy an evening of pizza and drinks with a date or some friends.
