1. Three Carrots

This all-vegan restaurant offers an incredible premise: vegan comfort food that tastes even better than it looks. Three Carrots started out as just a small kiosk in the City Market (where they still remain) but recently opened a full-service restaurant in the arts district of Fountain Square. With a vegan twist on the classic Indiana tenderloin, savory polenta sticks, gooey mac and cheese, and a po’ boy that you won’t believe is meatless, you’ll find a vegan option everyone will enjoy here.

With an emphasis on real and good foods, Duos offers seasonally and locally produced cuisine perfect for all diets. You’ll find varied vegetarian and vegan options on their menu, including a vegan BLT, spicy quinoa bowl, and tasty vegan burger. It’s a perfect place for carnivores and vegetarians alike to grab a fresh, flavorful lunch.

Ezra’s mission is to bring healthy, healing, and vibrant locally sourced foods to Hoosiers in Indianapolis. This café is completely dairy-free and vegetarian. In fact, the only non-vegan ingredient they offer is locally sourced honey. They’re also GMO-free, gluten-free, and offer locally sourced produce. They’re well known for their extensive juices and smoothies, as well as their colorful salads, inventive bowls, nutritious sweets, and raw ice creams.

5. The Garden Table

This local eatery obtains its ingredients from local farms and purveyors and is committed to offering simple, natural dishes with balanced nutrition. While not strictly a vegetarian restaurant, they offer a plethora of vegetarian and vegan entrées such as vegan cornbread, vegan bahn-mi, and an Asian veggie bowl. They’re also famous for their cold-pressed juices. Since their local ingredients rotate quite frequently, their menu is always evolving and growing. In addition to their Mass Ave location, they also have a restaurant in Broad Ripple that serves brunch daily (The Garden Table, East Westfield Boulevard, Indianapolis, IN).

6. Bazbeaux Pizza

A vegetarian list simply wouldn’t be complete without a killer pizza place. Bazbeaux Pizza has been voted “Indy’s Best” several years in a row for their incredible appetizers and pizza combinations. This full-service restaurant in Broad Ripple also has locations in downtown Indy (333 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, IN) and in Carmel (111 W. Main St, Carmel, IN). They don’t take reservations, but you can usually get seated fairly quickly. You can also order any pizza without cheese if you’re dairy-free.

7. Mimi Blue Meatballs

This quaint little bistro nestled into the east side of Mass Ave opened in 2015 with the goal of providing delectable home-cooked meals. They offer plenty of vegetarian and vegan options, including their veggie meatballs, mac and queso, and fried Brussels sprouts. Their menu allows you to choose your meatball, choice of sauce, and sides so that you can build the vegetarian comfort dish of your dreams.

This cozy eatery offers incredible breakfast, brunch, and lunch entrées in a charming, rustic setting. Vegetarians can have a variety of breakfast foods such as pancakes, lemon corncakes, and black bean patties, while vegans can enjoy tofu scrambles, potatoes, and fresh fruit. There is also a variety of meat-free lunch entrées both vegetarians and vegans can choose.

9. The Sinking Ship

This dive bar near Broad Ripple offers incredible pub food for both vegetarians and carnivores. They have a large list of hearty vegan options, including chili cheese fries, buffalo mac and cheese, seitan wings, beer “brats,” a vegan burger, and much more. Pretty much any bar food that you can dream of, you’ll find in a vegan form on this extensive menu.

10. General American Donut Company

This no-frills donut shop offers a variety of decadent donuts baked fresh daily. Best of all, they even have a decent selection of animal- and milk-free vegan donuts, generally in flavors ranging from glazed, raspberry, and Nutella to lemon, coffee, and pistachio.
