If you’re looking to do some good for the wider community, why not start with helping the Chicago River stay beautiful? The river is a 156-mile long system and is home to various wildlife and is essential to life here in Chicagoland. The Friends of the Chicago River are always doing their best to take care of the river, but Chicago River Day is when they make it really easy to help out. So grab some friends and contact this organization before heading to one of their 60 riverbed sites where you can help clean up litter, construct river trails, remove invasive vegetation, and plant native vegetation. These efforts help keep the Chicago as beautiful and healthy as possible.
