Boystown is the epicenter of the LGBT bar scene in Chicago, but it’s not the only spot to check out. LGBT bars this city offers are scattered throughout different neighborhoods, from up to downtown. The following is our round up of Chicago’s best LGBT bars.

Big Chicks

Bar

Big Chicks is a laid-back Uptown dive located away from the crowds and modeling parades of Boystown. They host a ‘Bear Night’ every Thursday, but it’s also a great place for bar bites. On Mondays they serve quarter pounder Buck Burgers or veggie dogs for $1 with your choice of salad or fries from 5PM to close. Tuesday is great for veggie lovers, with quesadillas, burgers and other specials. On weekends, it’s a great place for dance parties, with DJs pumping out tunes to theme nights.

Elixir

Bar, Cocktail Bar

Elixir is a small, sophisticated cocktail bar in the heart of Boystown. The décor is upscale, with polished wood paneling and a twist of modern industrial chic quality. Stop by for artfully-crafted cocktails that get rave reviews and rotate frequently. Crowd pleasers include the crisp apple martini, rosemary infused margaritas, or tequila drinks. The menu is extensive, and the expert bartenders can make whatever you ask of them. It’s the perfect alternative for a date night or for a relaxing, talkative evening.

Replay Beer and Bourbon

Replay Beer and Bourbon is a fun bar that serves free popcorn and is home to free video games like Ms. Pac Man and Asteroids. Serving cocktails, an extensive beer list and almost every bourbon available, Replay is a great place to kick back in a lively environment inside at their sleek wood paneled bar or on their outdoor patio. Friendly, diverse crowds and bartenders help to make this an enjoyable and relaxing time and a nice alternative to the loud clubs of Boystown.

Sidetrack

Bar

Sidetrackspans more than eight storefronts and includes three bars on its main level, a multi-tier rooftop deck and a front courtyard that overlooks the street and lounge area. The bar is chic, with beautiful wooden floors and modern furniture. It’s known for its selection of four slushy vodka drinks — including black cherry and Bacardi and pineapple mai tai flavors — and its wide variety of video selections. Sunday through Monday and on Fridays, patrons can sing along to show tunes and Broadway classics.

Marty’s Martini Bar

Bar, Beer

The stylish bar is a sophisticated hot spot for well-crafted martinis of any style. They have an assortment of flavorful martinis including pineapple, chocolate orange or crème brulee. Most martinis are around $9, and some crowd pleasers include the dirty bird and pineapple upside-down. The indoor décor is gothic modern with a chic and cozy atmosphere. The place gets crowded as the night goes on, so try to steal a spot on their patio with romantic stringed lights hanging overhead.
