Los Pollos Hermanos is a fictional fried chicken chain in the Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul universe, but lately, fans have had opportunity to sample their curly fries (plus three dipping sauces) in real life.

In the series, Los Pollos Hermanos is the popular fast food chain helmed by Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito). Fring appears to most as the charming co-founder of the business, always happily greeting customers with a wide grin. Yet in reality, Fring is a dangerous meth kingpin who uses the restaurant and Lavanderia Brillante, a commercial laundry facility, as fronts for his unsavory activities. Fring is arguably one of Breaking Bads best villains, and he is set to appear prominently in the third season of spin-off prequel Better Call Saul, which premieres on AMC April 10.

The real-life, pop-up Los Pollos Hermanos made its first appearance in Austin, Texas during SXSW before springing up in downtown Los Angeles March 29 and 30. The interior of the restaurant was a spot-on replica of the eatery featured in the show, with its bright blue, red and yellow color scheme and peppy, uniformed employees. Screens played teasers from Better Call Saul, as well as a commercial featuring Gus Fring, who encourages customers try the curly fries. Fans could score said curly fries in a branded paper packet, though there was no fried chicken available.

Los Pollos Hermanos will next appear in New York on April 9 and 10. Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, plus Michael Mando (who portrays Nacho Varga), brothers Luis Moncada and Daniel Moncada (who play The Cousins), Max Arciniega (Krazy-8) and Jeremiah Bitsui (Victor) appeared at Los Angeles’ pop-up, so who knows who will show up in NYC?
