Named after a local Spanish mission, Santa Clara was established in 1777. The city, once home to the Ohlone tribe, is now a Silicon Valley hub, and the headquarters of Intel. Santa Clara is the ninth most populous city in the San Francisco Bay Area. The city’s diversity has enriched its culinary scene; here we list our favorite brunch spots.

Mikayla’s Café

An American breakfast café established in 2014, Mikayla’s Café specializes in burgers and sandwiches. It opens at 7am everyday, except on Saturdays, when it opens at 8am. On weekends, Mikayla’s closes at 3pm, while on weekdays it closes half an hour earlier. Takeout can be ordered online, and reservations can be made by phone.

Sara’s Kitchen

Located right next to Santa Clara University, Sara’s Kitchen serves breakfast and lunch daily. It is open from 7am until 3pm every day of the week. The extensive breakfast menu is available on the website, as are coupons.

Mission City Grill

A family business since 1957, Mission City Grill has multiple locations in the Bay Area. Breakfast is served all day, and there are a variety of dishes to choose from. Mission City Grill also offers a separate menu for kids. Food is prepared fresh and from scratch every day.

Burma Bistro

Burmese cuisine is a rare but delightful treat in the Bay Area. Burma Bistro is an authentic food joint that aims to expose unique flavors to Santa Clara customers, who especially enjoy the tea leaf salad and coconut soup.

Spreadz

Spreadz emphasizes fresh and healthy eating. All items are homemade, and bread is baked onsite daily. Spreadz only uses fresh, local produce in its food. Takeout can be ordered online or by phone. Although it has a simple menu, Spreadz definitely deserves a visit!

Lillie Mae’s House of Soul Food

Opened by Chef Rhonda in 2001, Lillie Mae’s is a homey restaurant that uses old family recipes. It is closed on Mondays, but opens at 11am on other weekends. The special ‘All-U-Can EAT’ brunch buffet is on Saturday from 12 – 4pm. Lillie Mae’s also has a separate menu for kids.

Delicious Crêpes Bistro

Bistro, Creperie, Cafe, American, Vegan, Vegetarian, $
Delicious Crêpes Bistro is a local favorite that uses only fresh, organic, and healthy ingredients. The crêpe batter is made with vegan batter and served with freshly made juices. It is open from 8am until 9pm on weekdays, 8am until 4pm on Saturday, and it’s closed on Sundays. Takeout orders can be placed online via the OrderAhead app.

Bill’s Café

Although it is not quite located in Santa Clara, a short drive will take you to Bill’s Café. Bill’s has been open since 1977 and continues to be a favorite among customers today. The diverse menu can be seen on the website. It is open from 7am until 3pm everyday.
