The Best Restaurants In Fresno, California

Eurekas Signature Dishes
Eureka's Signature Dishes | Courtsey of Alexia Penna

Fresno’s restaurant scene is surprisingly diverse. From up-market dining to a bargain meal, here’s our guide to top notch food in Fresno, California.

Dog House Grill

The Dog House Grill is Fresno’s go to spot for burgers and barbecue: try the ABC, or the ‘Avocado, Bacon, and Jack Cheese.’ Beyond burgers, Dog House serves BBQ classics like tri-tip, pork ribs, and grilled chicken. We recommend trying one of their special sandwiches like the Craggier, a grilled chicken sandwich served with lots of veggies, BBQ sauce, and melted jack cheese.

Castillo’s Mexican Food

At Castillo’s, you’ll get authentic Mexican food with quick and friendly service. The chips are warm and flaky and the salsa is made to order. Order a combination plate so you can try multiple dishes.

Sakura Chaya

Sakura Chaya is not simply a delicious Japanese restaurant but an exciting dinner experience. Sakura Chaya specializes in Teppanyaki, which means that the chefs cook your food at your table. The sushi at Sakura is good too – try the Volcano roll.

Tandoori Night

Tandoori Night is a family-run Indian restaurant perfect for lunch or dinner. Popular dishes include the butter chicken and the paneer tandoori. You can also choose your level of spice.

Yosemite Ranch Steak & Seafood

Yosemite Ranch Steak & Seafood offers a menu full of delicious dishes like Alaskan King Crab and Bacon-Wrapped Filet Mignon, and you can add a ‘dinner enhancer’ to any meal. These enhancers include crab cakes, a single rack of baby back ribs, or a 6 0z lobster tail.

Phoenician Garden Mediterranean Bar and Grill

Phoenician Garden is one of the best spots for Mediterranean food in Fresno. The cuisine tends toward Greek, with lots of vegetables and juicy meats. Highlights include the hummus shawarma appetizer, the falafel wrap, and the spicy chicken entree. Deserts are good too: Phoenician Garden serve amazing baklava and other Mediterranean treats.

Hunan Chinese Restaurant

Hunan Chinese Restaurant is said to have such high quality food that the chefs could hold their own with Chinese restaurants in San Francisco and New York. The main difference between Hunan and the restaurants in NYC and SF, though, is the prices are much better in Fresno! Order the Mongolian beef, the jellyfish wasabi salad, and the sweet and sour pork.

Pismo’s Coastal Grill

It’s tough to find seafood in the Central Valley, but Pismo’s Coastal Grill will have you thinking you are right on the coast. Pismo’s styles itself after the Central Coast’s seafood shacks, and it will not disappoint. We recommend ordering a few appetizers for the table, like the fried snapper bites and the seafood ceviche. For your entree, try the lobster tail or the pan seared scallops and crab cake combo.

Eureka! Fresno

Eureka! serves some of the most creative burgers around alongside other remixed American classics. Eureka is one of the places you’ll want to order an appetizer or two, and the standouts are the Golden Ale Mussels and the Osso Buco Riblets. If you’re still hungry enough for a burger, try the Fresno Fig Burger or the Pearl Street Blues Burger.
