Given Newport Beach‘s proximity to the water, many sartorial decisions revolve around that flowing, beachy look. Casual cut-offs, cute tops and breezy dresses abound, but shoppers can still find upscale couture, smart jackets and vintage threads. Here are six of Newport Beach’s top women’s clothing shops.

1. Bardot

Shop, Store

Owner Dana Harmon named her boutique after Brigitte Bardot, the iconic film star. Bardot stocks effortlessly glamorous, yet everyday pieces that blend right in with the town’s beachside ambience, from designers including Rag & Bone, ALC, LemLem, and Maison du Soir. Stock up on flowing dresses, casual jumpers, winsome tops, and skinny jeans here.

A’maree’s

A’maree’s certainly has its own aesthetic, housed in a Thornton Ladd- and John Kelsey-designed building that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. Sisters Dawn Klohs, Denise Schaefer, and Apryl Schaefer helm this beloved high-fashion destination. Find elegant accessories, perfume, jewelry, and modern casual and dressy pieces in an absolutely beautiful space.

2. Mode-ology

Shop, Store

Located on Newport Beach’s scenic Balboa Island, Mode-ology offers modern and casual clothes and accessories in their charming shop. Hardwood floors, teal walls, and accessible displays make for a comfortable shopping experience for women of all ages. Customers rave about the selection of jeans and cute tops, although dressier, more formal pieces for special occasions can also be found among the selections.

Grayse

Mother and daughter design partners Marie and Kelly Gray opened their pop-up boutique Grayse at Fashion Island in late 2015. Both ladies had been involved in fashion previously: Marie founded the renowned St. John with her husband, and Kelly and Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx formed the edgier Royal Underground in 2006. The women’s styles blend with Grayse, where shoppers can find exquisitely embellished tops, leather jackets, versatile dresses, and printed silk tunics.

3. Swellegant Vintage

Shop, Store

Nicole Bernstein’s bright vintage shop offers a huge collection of rare finds, dating from the 1940s to the 1980s. Chic dresses, casual outfits, retro swimwear, and kitschy decor items can be found, as well as men’s items. It’s one of the few vintage shops around, and, unlike some other vintage shops or thrift stores, each piece has been carefully selected for quality. Check out recent scores on the shop’s Instagram.

Newport Beach has plenty of sunny days, but it’s also the name of a high-fashion women’s boutique just down the street from Mode-ology on Balboa Island. The racks at Sunny Days are stocked with denim, dresses, tops, shoes, scarves, accessories, and resort wear from both local and international designers including Pete Greta, Olive Hill, and Rag Poets.
