You'll Never Believe Where America's Most Romantic Dining City is Located
Foodies rejoice! A new list of the 25 most romantic cities in America for 2018 has been released and, needless to say we’re more than a little surprised by which city is the front-runner.
If you’re guessing Charleston, South Carolina, with its elevated Southern cuisine, quaint charm and cobblestone streets, you’d be wrong. Or maybe Savannah, Georgia, home to moss-lined streets and to-die-for peach cobbler? Wrong again. Drumroll, please! Biloxi, Mississippi, snagged the 2018 first place title.
It’s easy to see the appeal of Biloxi, with its scenic location on the Gulf of Mexico, laid-back, small-town vibe, gambling scene and seriously delicious Southern seafood. Romantic dates here can include a walk on sandy white beaches, a show at the Beau Rivage or browsing the art at the Ohr-O’Keefe Museum of Art, and obviously chowing down at one of the top 10 restaurants in Biloxi. One thing is guaranteed: you won’t find oysters on the half-shell, Gulf-caught fish and fried soft-shell crab fresher anywhere else. After doing date night in Biloxi, we might just have to update our own list of the most romantic destinations in the US.
Commissioned by restaurant reservation site OpenTable, three variables were considered when determining the winner: the percentage of restaurants rated “romantic” according to OpenTable diner reviews, the percentage of tables seated for two and the percentage of people who dined out for Valentine’s Day in 2017.
If you can’t make it to Biloxi anytime soon, take your next date to one of the runner-ups: Birmingham, Virginia Beach, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Baton Rouge, Providence, Reno, Carmel, Memphis, Savannah, Milwaukee, Louisville, San Antonio, St. Louis, Omaha, Santa Barbara, Salt Lake City, Austin, Fort Worth, Detroit, Charleston, Brooklyn, Buffalo or Raleigh.
