As entertaining as they are perspective-shifting, these wellness-themed podcasts are a productive alternative to in-flight action movies and pool-side playlists.

That’s So Retrograde

Intuitive sexual healers, spiritual empowerment coaches, tantric numerologists—these are just a handful of guests that have graced the mic at That’s So Retrograde, an unashamedly woo-woo podcast aptly described as “the Ab Fab of the new age.” Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari, two multi hyphenate creatives, explore the best of the Los Angeles wellness scene with an open-minded but humorous approach. If you’re just dipping your toe into this world there are lots of informative health-focused episodes. And if you’re ready to get weird with it—well, you’ve come to the right podcast.

Super Soul Conversations

Oprah is pretty much the poster child of “living your best life” at this point, and her Super Soul Conversations podcast—a curated selection of interviews from her popular Super Soul Sundays show—aims to help you do just that. Luminaries from a whole range of industries (plus a lot of celebrities and public figures) contribute thoughtful view points and expert knowledge intended to help you fine tune your own life.

Almost 30 Podcast

As you might have guessed, the Almost 30 Podcast was born from the transition out of that experimental phase when you start to get serious about who you are and what you want (astrologists call this often-tumultuous time your “saturn return”). The show is hosted by friends Krista Williams and Lindsey Simcik who, with the help of expert guests, navigate the waters of health and wellness, relationships and sex, entrepreneurship, and self-development in all its forms.

The goop Podcast

Possibly the world’s most famous wellness lifestyle site, it’s surprising that it took this long for goop to launch it’s own podcast. Hosted by the publication’s Chief Content Officer, Elise Loehnen, and Gwyneth Paltrow herself, each episode features a thought-leader in the health and wellness space, and adhere’s to goop‘s MO of challenging the mainstream status quo when it comes to health and wellbeing. It only launched earlier this year, but so far episodes have been thought-provoking and unexpected, without any of the wackiness of its digital articles—vaginal steams and clean sleeping, to name but two.

Thrive Global Podcast

Back when Arianna Huffington was editor-and-chief of the Huffington Post she learned her lesson about the importance of prioritizing wellbeing the hard way—through exhaustion, burn-out, and the associated health issues. Soon after, she became somewhat of a sleep evangelist, and with the launch of the Thrive Global Podcast, hopes to help us all relearn better habits. Listen to her conversations with celebrities, athletes, and influencers about their wellness regimens and you’re sure to pick up a few tips applicable to you as well.

About the author

Born and raised in Bristol, England, Esme has been geeking out over syntax her entire life. She studied English Lit by the Brighton seaside before moving to London to pursue her writing career in 2009, going on to work for Grazia Daily, The Telegraph and SheerLuxe. In 2013 she swapped The Big Smoke for The Big Apple, where she trained as a yoga teacher and contributed to Refinery29, Self, Fitness Magazine and Greatist. When she's not glued to her laptop or iPhone you'll find her drinking Kale Margaritas at an East Village happy hour, planning her next adventure, or hand-standing (with more vigor than skill) at the yoga studio.
