American photographer and architect, Jeffrey Milstein, takes getting the perfect photograph to the absolute next level. He will literally lean out of a helicopter to make it happen!

In his new book, LA NY, Jeff defies gravity to give his viewers never-before-seen insight into the topography of two of America’s most famous cities: New York and Los Angeles.

LA NY, New York: Empire State Building

Using a stabilising gyro to mount his camera, he does circles above the cities in small planes and helicopters, looking for shapes and patterns from above and taking photographs of everything from marinas, to landmark buildings and housing projects.

LA NY, Los Angeles: The Beach

Combining architecture, science and art, he has created an entirely new form of aerial photography, which not only reveals fascinating aspects of the urban planning and design behind each city, but also illustrates eye-catching geometric compositions that in themselves are works of art.

LA NY Los Angeles: Long Beach Shoreline Marina, Long Beach

Born in LA, Milstein relocated to NYC after university and has had a passion for airplanes since childhood, which is where his unique and daring photographic process stems from.

LA NY, New York: American Museum of Natural History

The new book is a stunning visual journey through two of the best cities on the planet, all from an angle we rarely get to properly see.
