In mid-July, the last thing people want to do is think ahead to the colder months and snowy weather; but if you’re planning to travel over the holidays, then this is the perfect time to think about winter and book those flights.

According to airfare saving website, CheapFlights.com, between now and mid-September is primetime for snagging cheap flights to popular U.S. destinations. “If you want to head to Las Vegas for the holidays, now is the time to book, while if you want to go to New York, you can wait until the week of 24 September,” writes Lonely Planet.

CheapFlights.com analyzed data to predict flight prices and how they would fluctuate over the next few months. According to Travel + Leisure, “To determine the ideal time to book affordable flights for a holiday getaway, CheapFlights.com looked at Americans’ favorite destinations for the season and when the best deals could be found.”

The results are in and the best time to book Christmas travel to Las Vegas is now, while the best time to book for travel to Atlanta, Georgia and Mexico City is the third week of July.

Mid-August is ideal timing for booking tickets to Orlando and Dallas, while flights to New York, Los Angeles and Miami should be purchased in mid-September (but before the 25th).

“CheapFlights estimates that this window for cheap holiday flights closes in mid-September,” reports Travel + Leisure, so thinking ahead to the colder months might be exactly what you want to start doing now.
