With a wealth of culinary heritage — including a street food culture that is amazing enough to warrant UNESCO status and some of Latin America’s best restaurants — Mexico City is the obvious choice for an aspiring food blogger. So, whether you want to find out more about street food or would rather delve into the city’s fine dining options, here are the six Mexico City food bloggers you need to know about.

Anais from The Curious Mexican

Her Instagram is a foodie’s dream; from the perfectly grilled elote to fresh from the market fish, her feed has quite the range of food focused snaps. However, if you think her Instagram is impressive, you should see her blog. Her posts either take you through the basics of how to prepare some of Mexico’s most traditional dishes – like chile en nogada – or point you in the direction of the best tacos de suadero in the city; one exceptionally useful post explains the difference between red and green salsa spice level.

Michelle Meyer from Michelle on Bell

Michelle Meyer, a Mexican native, was recently interviewed by compassandtwine.com about her hugely successful food blog. As detailed in the interview, her passion for detailing exquisite meals and restaurants began long before she started her blog, and so you can only imagine the wealth of information that’s on there now. While she occasionally writes about international fare, Mexico City restaurant reviews remain the main focus of Michelle on Bell.

Ben Herrera from Mexico Sabroso

Literally translating to Delicious Mexico, Mexico Sabroso — the food blog run by Ben Herrera, a Culinary Backstreets correspondent — is a one-stop-shop for everything that’s going on food wise in Mexico City. Having grown up there, save for a period of residence in the U.S. as an adult, Herrera’s knowledge of the local food scene is truly impressive. While the homepage is dominated by recipes of traditional Mexican dishes, tabs across the top take you to some top notch restaurant recommendations and photo series’.

Nicholas Gilman from Good Food Mexico

New York born Nicholas Gilman knows great Mexican food when he sees it; in fact, he’s built quite the blogging empire off the back of his intel and passion for great cuisine. In between painting exhibitions, he’s studied gastronomy and helped found Mexico’s branch of Slow Food International. Despite having written several pieces for a wealth of English and Spanish-language newspapers, his blog (Good Food Mexico) is still regularly updated and more than worth following.

Ángeles and Héctor from Los Tocinantes

Recently back to the food blog scene after a fair old hiatus, Ángeles and Héctor run the well put together Mexico City blog Los Tocinantes. Partners in life and in blogging, Héctor is the photographer of the two, whereas Ángeles concerns himself with writing the posts. On their site, they share honest opinions about Mexico City restaurants and other foodie experiences, as well as the odd more personal posts. Let’s hope they’re back for good after their most recent break!

Chio and Alexandra from Las Chilangas Hambrientas

The Chilangas Hambrientas, otherwise known as Chio and Alexandra, are not only the brains behind one of the top Mexico City foodie Instagram accounts you must follow, but they’re also excellent food bloggers. While many of their posts focus on areas in Roma and Condesa, they’ve also covered places over the rest of the city and have some great recommendations. They’re also known for reporting on food fairs and food truck fests, keeping you in the loop with all the city’s one-off foodie events.
