The 10 Best Brunch Spots In Guadalajara, Mexico

Lauren Cocking

Guadalajara is often considered one of the most traditionally Mexican of the big three Mexican metropolises. There’s a vast amount to see and do, but you will never feel rushed in this relaxed city, so why not take some time out for a lazy brunch in one of our top 10 brunch spots?

Ex-Convento del Carmen

1. Chai

Chai

Chai is a favorite among locals, but particularly among foreigners. With several different locations throughout Guadalajara, the one located in the cute courtyard opposite the Ex-Convento del Carmen is one of the most attractive. Most definitely the perfect spot for brunch, Chai offers well priced and basic favorites, such as pastas and sandwiches, but also has excellent (and namesake) Chai frappes in several flavors.

2. Piggy Back

Piggy Back

This pastel-hued, hidden-away café is a truly fantastic brunch option in Guadalajara’s Colonia Americana. Filled with white furniture and woven chairs, Piggy Back is super small, but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in flavor and attention to detail. The brunches here are fabulous.

3. Boulangerie Central

Bakery, Restaurant, French

Boulangerie Central
With a recently updated menu featuring delights such as tostadas del bosque (thickly sliced and toasted bread, topped with cottage cheese, blueberry compote, and crystallized ginger) Boulangerie Central is an absolute gem of a find for brunch in Guadalajara. Also a bakery, this spacious and pretty brunch spot will treat you to the scent of freshly baked treats that wafts through.

4. La Trompada Caligari

Restaurant, Mexican

This quirky café is essentially a hole in the wall establishment, with a brightly painted zigzag dominating the interior wall, which is covered in framed photos. A mismatch of chairs, tables, and bar stools fill the interior, making it a great place for a casual brunch.

5. Succulent

Restaurant, Mexican

Suculenta is a vegetarian and vegan restaurant which would make the perfect location for brunch if you have more specific dietary requirements or preferences. Try the fruit parfait which includes quinoa granola and toasted coconut if you want something nice and light to start the day with, or perhaps you’d prefer something a little more filling? In that case, we recommend one of their tortas. Every item is well considered, and most importantly delicious and inventive, for example, tacos made from the skin of plantain.

6. La Tetería

La Tetería

Literally translating to “teapot,” La Tetería is the perfect place to swing by for brunch if you coffee lovers come accompanied by tea drinkers too, as you’ll find both served here in this cute little café. Don’t miss the chance to try the frappe options, which range from chai to mint chocolate flavors. The décor is minimalist, with comfortable sofa style seats indoors, and rustic wooden tables and chairs in the quaint patio area. Chalkboard walls provide information about prices and offers.
