While lucha libre is arguably far more popular in Mexico than boxing is, the country also has a known track record of producing excellent boxers that have performed on the world’s stage, in both amateur and professional events. One of the biggest and best known Mexican boxers would have to be Julio César Chávez, although female boxers are edging more and more into the spotlight. Romanza Gym

Undoubtedly one of the most legendary spots to try your hand at a little boxing training in the Mexican capital, Romanza Gym has seen many a famous boxing face pass through its doors since it opened, notably Daniel Zaragoza and Juan Manuel Márquez. In total, 22 world champions have been trained here, so you’re among good company if you’re looking for a place to spar.

If you’re new to boxing and are looking for somewhere to kick start your potential talent for the sport in Mexico City, look no further than Boxing Pro. This gym, located in Narvarte, has a great reputation for hosting excellent group classes that will help you learn the basics of the sport. Unlike many boxing class venues, you also have access to top notch, modern equipment and facilities. A great venue for the boxing novice.
