Princess-to-be Meghan Markle has been in the headlines for her engagement to Prince Harry, but she forged a successful career of her own before they met. The actor took time out of her schedule to maintain a lifestyle blog called The Tig, where she wrote about her travels, among other things. If you’d like to catch a glimpse of the happy couple, here are some of the top destinations where you might bump into Meghan Markle and Prince Harry.

Meghan Markle

Lower East Side, New York

Meghan may have been born and raised in Los Angeles, but she has developed a soft spot for New York, and in particular the Lower East Side. She once said that The Bowery Hotel boasted a ‘who’s who nightlife scene’, perfect for actors and anyone else making a name for themselves, and recommended the tasting menu at Contra.

The Okavango Delta, Botswana

For their first official date, the royal couple jetted off to Botswana to stay at the Meno a Kwena tented camp. It might sound slightly unusual for a first date to last five days, but you wouldn’t want to spend any less time exploring the beautiful Okavango Delta. Keep an eye out for bathing elephants and meerkats while you’re there, too.

Northern Lights

Tromsø, Norway

Back in January, Meghan and Harry went to Tromsø in northern Norway, famous for its incredible sightings of the Northern Lights. You can enjoy the spectacular natural phenomenon and then spend some time in a city renowned for its art galleries and picture-perfect gingerbread houses.

Negril, Jamaica

The coastal town of Negril is a truly tropical paradise, with palms, white sand and clear water. Meghan met her first husband here, but their divorce hasn’t dimmed her love for the place. Make like the princess-to-be and go cliff jumping, do some yoga on the beach or dive for sea urchins.

Oaxaca, Mexico

While Meghan isn’t the only one trumpeting southern Mexico’s fascinating Oaxaca state, which has become a firm favourite with international travellers in recent years, she did get there before most of us. According to Meghan, she remembers traveling to Oaxaca City aged nine to take in the famous Day of the Dead celebrations that take place in Mexico at the beginning of November each year.

Sayulita

Sayulita, Mexico

As a southern California girl, Meghan’s love of Mexico is understandable. After all, it’s only a short hop to the border from her hometown of Los Angeles. While she has written about her love of Baja California, the border state on the west coast of Mexico, she has recently fallen in love with the surf town of Sayulita. It’s further south, near the resort city of Puerto Vallarta, but retains a ‘boho-chic sensibility’, in Meghan’s own words. It has also been reported that Meghan’s father now lives in town, so this could be your best shot at spotting the soon-to-be-royal.

Strait Street, Valletta

Valletta, Malta

When it comes to Mediterranean holidays, Meghan eschews the crowded beaches of France, Spain and Italy in favour of the tiny island of Malta. Her affinity for island life might be due to the fact that her great-great-grandmother was Maltese, or it could be down to the great food, delicious wine and spectacular coastline.

King’s Road, London

Meghan has been spotted on several occasions on the upmarket shopping street King’s Road in West London. It’s not far from her purported new home at Kensington Palace, and it’s known for the kind of designer boutiques that are fit for a young and fashionable royal.

Tulum beach

Tulum, Mexico

Meghan is one of a wave of tourists who have made Tulum the place to be on the Mexican Riviera Maya. Skip out of the built-up resort towns of Cancun and Playa del Carmen in favour of an eco-chic boutique hotel on the beach in Tulum.

Positano, Italy

This small fishing village on the Amalfi Coast is only an hour from Naples, but it couldn’t be more different to the pulsating big city. Pastel houses tumble down steep cliffs to the sea, making for incredible views. If you want to splash out, make like Meghan, Reese Witherspoon and Sienna Miller and book a night at La Sirenuse.

Hydra, Greece

Two hours from Athens by ferry, the laid-back island of Hydra is known for relaxing breaks. Meghan organised a hen party here for a friend in 2016. Wheeled vehicles, including bikes, are banned from the island, so you can wander around freely.
