Sam’s Bar and Grill – a Puerto Plata institution – opened its doors in 1999 inside the Hotel Castilla. When Hotel Castilla closed down, Sam’s relocated the whole restaurant to its new location at L’oase Resort. With a wide selections of meats, fish, pasta and salads, Sam’s is a fun place to drink and dine; they have movie screenings on their projector, a billiards table, and occasional sports and karaoke nights.

El Pilon

If you’re looking for true Dominican cuisine, you must to go to El Pilon. Try their sancocho, a traditional dish full of flavor. Alternatively sample the rice and beans with Dominican style steak, which is absolutely exquisite. For dessert, try the rice pudding cooked Dominican style.
