Winnipeg has several of the oldest and best-preserved historic districts in Canada. Visit the Forks National Historic Site, where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet, or the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, described by its architect as, “Carved into the earth and dissolving into the sky.” Alternatively, spot polar bears at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, or hold a $600,000 (£460,620) gold bar at the Royal Canadian Mint on your next visit to Winnipeg – the city at the center of Canada.
